DP; downshift or let the turbo boost go to max? also Neutral for waiting at a light?

I realize that your engine and tanny are much newer models than mine but this may still pertain. All the helpful comments above are true I'm not trying to discredit anyone. So to add to the pot, mine was running fine but while reading a service manual I was shown an adjustment on the...

Truck bed liner for RV roof.

I sprayed the roof of my international step van 10 years ago and it is still is new condition. Our pontoon boat deck was sprayed at an earlier date and ha only one flaw where it was gouged by furniture. I only use Superliner, have found it to be a better product and nicer looking finish. Colors...

Augh - I should offer a prize for this correct diagnosis!!

Just to clarify, you said you have a "jake brake", Is it in fact an exhaust brake instead? Reason for asking is our exhaust brake stuck closed and it acted as if a potato was stuck in the exhaust. I removed it and wire brushed all the built up carbon....works perfect now.

    Value of a motorcycle

There have been a lot of arguments between Honda and Harley trikes and just as many between Harley factor or conversions. For me there is just too much plastic on a Honda but the comfort is a plus. Harley trikes are at a premium but many of the kits offer independent rear suspension and electric...

    4WD wannabe RV'r question

I know this is an old post but here is my answer I built it from an aluminum metro van with the undercarriage of a chevy 4x4 truck. Then swapped out engine for a 500 Cadillac with the 400 transmission. It definitely will not get you the mileage you want. The interior is unfinished except for...

Why are turbochargers a common failure item on DP's?

On our 8.3 the only problem I had was the waste gate sticking partially open. The exhaust brake would stick closed, manifold warped and cracked at connection to turbo. Other than that all's went fine. Made a big difference when it was all fixed, so much that it blew off one of the...

    Headlight Questions

a couple of years ago when I replaced the headlight assys on my older corvette I decided to cover them with a product called Laminx. So far so good, I've notices small marks like sandblasting on the surface which would otherwise have gone into those very expensive lenses....good product,very...

    Firearms and Full timing

This is where the Taurus "Judge" might be handy. It is a 5 shot, 410 gauge handgun, works great on snakes but with its short barrel it is deafening plus it takes the .45 colt ammo.

HI forum! Just bought a homebuilt RV made w a 1972 Olds Toronado chassis & motor

IIRC the oldsmobile and eldorado used the THM425 trans whereas the GMC motorhome used a THM 426 transmission. The only difference was an extra friction plate in the motorhome tranny.       I have a caddy 425 engine on an eldo trans sitting in my garage, engine was gone thru, cammed up and...
