I-10 Deming NM New Valero Station With Dedicated RV Island

Good to know.  Maybe that will start a trend.  In this area, QuickTrip (QT) is building a load of new stores and none I have seen with RV lanes.  Seems like it would be so simple in new construction to add them.

    Help me decide which tires

I switched from Goodyear to Hankook AH11 on my small class A.  The difference in ride and tracking is much, much better.  The AH11 are truck tires therefore more tread depth  and without the "protective compounds" that are supposedly used in RV tires to protect them from UV.  Therefore when...

We just left Hunting island SC

We were there a few years ago and really enjoyed it.  Also enjoyed the great seafood restaurants in the area!

    Gps vs Phone

I find there are 3 items i continue to use together..maps (the paper kind!)  Garmin, and android cell apps like Google Maps, Yelp, Trip Advisor.  Maps for the big picture,  Garmin for highway navigation including the capability to have planned stopping points, and apps for finding other things...

    Awning Room

Trying to think outside the box (or room so to speak), 2 options come to mind.  A standalone external room not attached to awning but could sit under it or near it and much less expensive.  Or possibly a side sun blocker used with a lengthwise sun blocker for a partial room.  May not be what...

Why are class C so expensive vs class A?

Newbie or not, each class has its advantages and drawbacks.  When we camped with our kids we wanted a 'C' for the extra full time bed over the cab.  It just fit our needs better at the time.  The kids are grown now and we traded the extra bed for more living space for two in an A.

    An almost first timer question

I work in IT.  A large percentage of thi IT staff at my company work remotely. As long as you have a good internet connection and a phone you are good to go.  It doesnt matter where you are..home, rv, grandma's house.  I havent had a traditional office in years.

    IT work

A friend of mine does like you and uses dice and careerbuilder etc. But he also works with 2 or 3 contract companies. Let them come up with placements for you to choose from.  Of course they get a cut but it can be worth it so you dont have to do that constant searching.  Thats what i plan to do...

    Arriving late at campgrounds

Its best to ask the CG mgmt.  Some lock gates and some dont.  SC state parks lock with a combo lock at nite, but if you are going to arrive late I think they will go ahead and provide the combination to you like they do to campers.  NC State parks lock you in/out for the nite.  We have stayed...

Anyone camped in motorhome at Outer Banks National Seashore

All the other posters are right, Ocracoke and Hatteras are awesome.  NPS  campgrounds on both, however not much in the way of private CG on Ocracoke.  My suggestion would be to stay on Hatteras and take the ferry to Ocracoke for a day trip.  Especially in September!    I wouldnt want to be stuck...

    Hunting Island SC

I dont know what size your rig is, but we stayed on #22 last year.  As I recall, that particular strip and those just between there and the beach are all pretty wide open.    We made a mental note to always look for something right in that area next time.  I'm sure someone will jump in with...

    WalMart campground?

And as someone else said, "to each his own", which is what makes RVing so much fun.  Since I still work (not retired yet), I have limited vacation time, and try to make the most of it.  Of course, we could stick to destinations within a few miles of home, but that's not our style either.  When...
