1998 Newmar Moutain Aire/Freightliner Fred (MC) Chassis Fuel Tank

The leaks were so wee that I decided to use POR-15. Five weeks later and one trip later, no leaks!!! I will make a note to give a report in a year.

1998 Newmar Moutain Aire/Freightliner Fred (MC) Chassis Fuel Tank

Okay, I decided to pull the tank out! Good thing I did because someone painted the tank without a primer coat. Every place where the paint didn't stick and water got behind the paint, there was a pitting and rust (oxidation). The issue began as a leak in the rear of the tank. Three little pin...

1998 Newmar Moutain Aire/Freightliner Fred (MC) Chassis Fuel Tank

FYI: I found my plaque. It was on the side, painted over and behind a bracket. Even after I pulled the tank, the thick paint hid it! So, thanks for the heads up, which made me look harder for it!

1998 Newmar Moutain Aire/Freightliner Fred (MC) Chassis Fuel Tank

Can anyone tell me where to find or what the name of the fuel (Diesel) tank for my 1998 Newmar/Freightliner Chassis? I drew a picture of it below, but it is not to scale. Thank you in advance!

Diesel pusher loosing speed up hill

I know this is an old post, but for those of us looking for information, I will add to it. On the rolling hills of central Texas, my 37ft 1998 Newmar Motorhome with 5.9 diesel engine would drop 10 to 20 miles per hour. I was also having trouble getting to 65-70 MPH. I replace the stock air...

    HWH slide issue

Most large slides have rollers under them. If a roller is not working or is gummed up, the slide will not perform correctly. On my roller, the face was broken (plastic coating) for example. Is your slide hydraulic? I believe it is. Could be a plumbing issue (plugged, weak pump, etc...)

New member looking for our first RV

We camp with four people in a 37' Class A and it is a bit cramp. The couch makes a bed for two short people and the table-bed might work if you have small children. We only have one queen bedroom. We just look at one that had a queen bedroom and two bunk beds as well as the couch; but pricey...

1998 Mountain Aire 37' Class A Motorhome - Replacing the Roof

All of the stains are near the AC, so I think its local. There are other soft spots on the roof though, so there will be other areas where the wood will have to be replaced. I slitted the rubber roof and worked aluminum sheets over the hole the glued and caulked it like crazy. This will work...

    1998 Newmar/Freightliner Motorhome - Oil Pressure Sensors

Conclusion: I put the flex hose on the two sensors and it worked; however, the pressure gauge would go to 100 PSI initially and fall back to 40 to 50 PSI once I got going. I knew this wasn't right, so I connected a ground wire to the gauges and now it works perfectly. Thanks to all who help!

1998 Mountain Aire 37' Class A Motorhome - Replacing the Roof

We decided to replace the roof on our motorhome. In areas it has wood underneath that is pretty much gone! We got a leak at our main AC and I found the wood was pretty much non-existent under one of the bolts (about 1 foot by 1 foot area). Figure there are other areas too! Thought about...

1998 Newmar Mountain Air Central Air

Update: There are 5 lag bolts that hold the AC on to the roof! Three on the left side and two on the right side! In the attached picture, I placed the bolts approximately where they were removed from! Reminder: This is a plenum type AC; hence, it does not have the vents directly below it. -...
