north from Susanville Calif to Klamath Falls Oregon

I’ve been to Susanville multiple times and the climb north out of Susanville on 139 is steep. Did that route only once in the motor home, got stuck on a steep incline with construction and swore never to take again. Myself, I take 395 north to Alturas and then head west on 299 and catch 139...

    Tail light installation

Okay … it’s done! I posted some pics to help you understand what I did. First, I looked for the right type of glue. I settled on a two part, two tube epoxy which worked well. I used a twin tube plunger epoxy made by Gorilla Glue. It claims to have 3K lb. hold. It worked! Second, I prepped the...

Thanks for the name of the epoxy … I will post an update (post-mortem) on this little project … thanks to all!

    Tail light installation

John … I will have to get creative … with the light and bracket in its correct position, there is no access behind the light … I’m considering removing the lens of the light below it and seeing if I can reach the light above (see pic) … 🤞 … I appreciate the comment about leaving the old glue in...

    Walkie-Talkie recommendations?

Midland Handheld radios should do the trick … however … Check out GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service) (not Ham)… must have a license ($35, 10 year renewable, FCC call signal)… however, there’s no test and your license is good for you and your family (wife friendly, no test) … look at MYGMRS.COM...

    Tail light installation

Yes, John, it’s a metal bracket mounted light glued to the fiberglass end cap. As you can see from the photo, it’s glued right onto fiberglass outer body. (right beside the notch) The old glue is very hard and I’m concerned about removing the old glue without damaging the fiberglass. Yikes! It...

    Tail light installation

An overly enthusiastic wash rack attendant pushed too hard on my tail light. Apparently, they are glued in place and if you push too hard, you push in the light. Now I will have to glue it back in place. Conceptually, it seems straight forward but probably is not. First, what glue do I need...

Steps won't retract when starting the motorhome

I had the same problem … in my case, the magnetic door switch was the cause. The wire had worn out and broke the connection so the steps stayed out with engine on. I bypassed the magnetic switch with a hard wire. Steps went in immediately when I turned the ignition on. However, the door can...

GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service) Anyone?

Getting back to the original post … it‘s about what you want to do … I have no interest in dissing the Ham community… I have a technician license and wanted to use UHF and VHF to communicate with others. I found the UHF/VHF bands are not frequently used by other Ham operators, typically, they...

    The future of RVs

Hey Gator … you are spot on for Britain … Germans have a love affair their cars however … Brits do not love ❤️ their cars and have a more practical view on transportation …

Can every new car and truck in the USA be electric by 2035?

Electric Vehicles will primarily pay off for the urban area. Urban areas produce (way) more Carbon emissions than rural areas. There’s the ROI in the next 20-30 years. So, we should focus the investment on the urban environment ... infrastructure investment and power production will have to...

    E-470 Toll Process ... Avoid?

Roughneck’s experience is what I want to avoid ... I calculated the current toll for my distance, RV & towed and it’s about $55. That’s ok, however, automatic penalties are added when the toll is not paid within their set time frame. E-470 is a great road and avoids the bowels of Denver ... I...

    E-470 Toll Process ... Avoid?

It’s been some time since I drove E-470 ... looked at the website and it sounds like a great way to get sideways with the CO DMV & other states DMVs (SD myself) Snail mail notices can be delayed and penalties get applied ... i read of other people’s experience and I plan to avoid it by...

Windshield Solar Shade will not Retract

Hey John, that is a possibility ... it’s not wireless though. There are little buttons on hanging wires that are attached on the right side of the shade. I’ll check out the motor possibility and go from there.
