    Stabilizer Jacks

I'm looking to mount a couple of scissor jacks to the rear of my trailer - a little upgrade from the old aluminum ones I've been carrying around. does anyone have any thoughts, good or bad, on these EAZ-LIFT jacks on Amazon? They're on the higher end of the prices at $150 CAD for two...

    Brake Shoes

I ended up un-bolting the brake assembly from the axle and pulling it off with the hub together - once it was off, I was able to see through the opening - the adjuster screw had seized up, which is why I was having trouble ... being able to see it helped a bunch. good news is the brake shoes...

    Brake Shoes

Yeah, that was my thought too... but I couldn't find the adjuster nut through the opening on the back plate... I wasn't able to get a good look under there myself as this old trailer sits pretty low to the ground and I didn't show up equipped with the right jacks and jack stands...

    Brake Shoes

good call on Standen's - I went down to the RV storage lot today and pulled one of the wheels off - the brake drum is stamped with Standen's - Made in Calgary, AB right on it. did you ever pull the drums off that 2003 Rustler? I wasn't able to get the drum to come off - I pulled the cotter pin...

    Brake Shoes

Hey All - I'm planning on starting to think about beginning to get the trailer ready for the upcoming camping season ;) we picked up this little old 5th Wheel (93 Travelaire Rustler) around June of 2020 - I figured I better repack the bearings and check out the breaks before we get going this...

Norcold 6162 Refrigerator - Burner replacement

Hi Gary, I think you?re right about the flame - I started to disassemble it this morning and took this video of the flame - that looks good to me - what are your thoughts? https://vimeo.com/459719815

Norcold 6162 Refrigerator - Burner replacement

Thanks for the reply Mike...  Who know's what's happened to this thing in the 27 years before we got it... I'm pretty sure it's not even the original refrigerator - the equipment sticker on the trailer says it was outfitted with a Norcold 6062, not the 6162 that is installed in it.

Norcold 6162 Refrigerator - Burner replacement

It just occurred to me that I can probably just take both parts into a hardware store and find the appropriate coupling... I think this is what they call rubber duck debugging floks. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rubber_duck_debugging

Norcold 6162 Refrigerator - Burner replacement

Hi All - our Norcold 6162 works great when on AC, however, it will not cool on LP - I've left it running on propane for over 24 hours and could not feel a hint of cooling in the fridge or freezer. NOTE: this trailer is new to us this season and this has never worked for us. The burner does...

    Just placed deposit on trailer

this 100% - we bought our trailer, used, from an old guy who would spend his summers in Canada, living in it - when we picked it up from him, he had left everything in there for us (pots, pans, dishes, etc)... this is great since we really didn't need to buy anything to get ready to head out...

    Mystery Light Switch

I wasn't able to trace the wires very far, unfortunately.  I've got to get an RV tech out to fix up the fridge in the spring... I'll ask them if they have any ideas what it's for.

    New Member in Calgary, AB

Thought I'd give an update for anyone who may be interested - or if anyone is looking for this info in the future - I was crawling around under the trailer trying to trace a wire and noticed that there are tank capacities stamped on the grey and black water tanks: Grey Water: 91 L Black Water...

New day, new problem... smelly grey water in my shower

to expand on what ChasA said... your RV might have two valves for the gray water - a quick google search for "1996 Thor Hurricane" brought up an owners manual: https://www.rvroundtable.com/wp-content/uploads/Thor-Motor-Coach/Hurricane/1996.HurricaneOwnersManual.pdf there's a diagram on page 80...

    Mystery Light Switch

Thanks for the feedback everyone - We're heading out for an 8 night trip at the end of the month - I might spend an afternoon trying to trace the wiring to see where it leads (if I can get to it) Josh
