And if it is hot, for some reason, turn OD off?

    When to Use Low Gears?

Thanks for the reply. Our truck (2006 Ford F150) does not have a "tow" button/mode. So, here's what I've gathered at this point... Up Hills: You basically want to be mindful of RPMs, and make sure overdrive is off. Down Hills: Definitely have overdrive off. If it's a steep grade and/or we're...

    When to Use Low Gears?

Thanks for the detailed reply! Is it a good idea to have overdrive ON while driving on long flats though to save a bit of fuel?

    When to Use Low Gears?

Yes, there is a button on the end of the shifter labeled "O/D". So, basically is it like this? Going Up/Down Hills: Have overdrive OFF and also possibly use 2 or 1 depending on the steepness of the grade. Flats: Be in regular "drive" with overdrive ON

    When to Use Low Gears?

Hi. Complete newbie to towing, etc. here. My truck (2006 F150) has an automatic transmission. There's D (drive), but there's also 2 and 1. I've never used those, but I'm assuming 2 is "low gear" and 1 is "really low gear". Generally speaking, when would I want to use either of these...

    Security for Stuff In Camper

Hi. We're planning a trip, and I have an internet-based business to run during this. I will need to bring my computer which I REALLY don't want stolen or messed with. Anyone have some pro tips on making sure stuff is as safe as possible in the camper while you're off hiking, etc.?

    Tow Hitch Security Idea

How about this: Pull the breakaway pin out of the "emergency brake system" (it's probably not called that). Then stow the chain and brake cable, or take it with you. Wouldn't that essentially engage a "parking brake" on the trailer and make it virtually untowable?

    Tow Hitch Security Idea

I've done research into this and it seems that the various tow hitch "locks" are all relatively easily defeatable, having a boot on your wheel is defeatable, and that basically everything is defeatable in one way or another. So, the best idea seems to be to make your trailer the more...

Odd Breaker Setup: Converter and SOME Outlets on Same Breaker?

Um.... yeah, that's what we did. I can pigtail it though. The issue of having the converter and outlets on the same breaker is that we're now adding an inverter with an automatic transfer switch. So, if the inverter is on (which is supposed to energize all outlets in the camper), it will...

I'm not sure what kind of axels, etc. we have. It's a 2009 Rockwood, if that helps.

Odd Breaker Setup: Converter and SOME Outlets on Same Breaker?

Hi. I've got a 2009 Rockwood, and a friend is helping me install an inverter with an automatic transfer switch. In looking over the setup before install, we noticed a weird things with the breakers. One is labeled GFCI and another is labeled GFCI / CONVERTER. They are both 15 amp. Turns...
