    ONAN 7.5 Diesel Generator

Drum roll please. I fixed it!  I took off the top cover over the generator, about 12-14 bolts, and took a hard look inside. Sitting in the back, driver side, corner is a black plastic cover that is over the governor. Coming through the very top are two male spade connectors. A quick glimpse...

    ONAN 7.5 Diesel Generator

I did check for a fuel line kink. Everything good there. Plus I get fuel coming out of the fuel filter. My next step is to take the top off the generator cover and check it out. I've done some reading and it says the governor is located at the top back corner. I'm going to check wiring there...

    ONAN 7.5 Diesel Generator

Today I went into the lower compartment where the oil filter and fuel pump are located. I took apart the spade connectors and put a multimeter on them and had my wife press the start button.  It would not turn over at all in that condition. I suspect it has to complete the circuit through the...

    ONAN 7.5 Diesel Generator

I checked, cleaned and retightened battery connections on the rear of the generator. Still a NO-GO at this station. The generator will turn over when I depress the start button, both inside and on the generator. It just wont start. I appreciate all the advice, I'm checking everything that is...

    ONAN 7.5 Diesel Generator

I looked at that area very good. I took off the maintenance cover on that corner and checked all connections at the terminal block---all good. Following that wire bundle from the generator to the coach, after about 2 feet there is a cannon plug connection. I took it apart and checked connections...

Recently we were using the generator and I had the generator slide in the front of the coach slightly opened. As we were...

    Need water heater help fast!

FYI: fixed the problem. First found the ground at the circuit board a little loose --- cleaned the paint off an adjacent area and remounted the ground. Also replaced a fusible link located in the wire harness at the unit -- this restored power to the switch. When I turned on the heater inside...

Looked and cleaned all connections as per Atwood manual --no change. This one is going to take a while to fix.

    Need water heater help fast!

I took every fuse out and did a continuity check on each one---all good. I was expecting 12 volts at the switch but get none either at the switch or the harness back at the WH. There are 2 wires at the switch with no voltage across them. Did the cold shower thing, after Afghanistan that felt...

    Need water heater help fast!

It has been well over an hour and still no power at either the switch or the unit --- the gas (propane--lol) is on, the gas line is purged---stove and heaters are working --- checked and the unit is full of water ---purged the hot water line at the sink and checked the drain at the WH. I feel...

I'm getting desperate here guys and need some advice fast. Got my family out in the 1999 Southwind and went to use the hot water heater and have problems. When I first turned it on in the motorhome the red light came on and went off as normal. The light then cycled off and on 3 times and then...

    GFI electrical outlet problem

good idea on the crimps  --- I always wrap wire nuts with electrical tape starting on the wire nut and wrapping down onto the wires. Hopefully this will stand up to the vibrations.
