Added batteries in the front compartment of a Grand Design 27RL?

I have 200ah LifePo batteries and 300w solar on the roof. They keep the batteries always charged before we head out. We almost always boondock and the combination of solar and batteries works great. Never had to charge the batteries by plugging in.

Slide Out Awning: Torsion spring replacement

Just guessing but see whats the diameter of the spring to figure out the perimeter and that tells you how many rotations gives the distance it needs to roll (or you can simply roll/unroll the awning and count. Add a few more rotations to maintain the tension...

I'm lucky I can store my RV at home!

Yes, the first photo is during construction with the door opening at 8', ceiling height is 12. Then second photo is after I enlarged the opening (3 years after house was completed).

I'm lucky I can store my RV at home!

Our doors were 8' tall, but since we built the house ourselves I new the beam was sitting much higher. I removed the stones, enlarged the opening, added a 2' section to the doorand put the stone back all in 24hrs. Our trailer is barely ynder 10' and now we can park it inside during the winter...

Question about caulking around door on travel trailer

I did just that (all the way down) on my new trailer; same around windows and slide-out openning. The seals from factory are never perfect.

    Save New Tires

UV destroys pretty much anything, tires for sure.

Towing capacity and dry weight vs GVWR

Towing capacity aside (which others have already addressed) almost surely the hitch tongue rating is also a limiing factor. Typically the hitch load rating is about 10% of towing capacity (your case is likely 350lb) which almost surely these trailers are going to exceed.

    Save New Tires

Parking any vehicle (with load on tires) for long term even with covering the tires will deform the tires to some degree.

    Inverter in Travel Trailer

I put a 2000w pure sine wired to the batteries (200amp Lifepo4). For fun tested how long I could run a hair drier at 750W setting. It ran continuously for well over three hours.

    Wind resistance mitigation

Just to be clear, I didn't just slap something together. I first did model the car and trailer in a design program (autocad) I found the right line/angle for the deflector that would be aligned with the roof line of the trailer and also tried to have it placed as far as back as possible. But I...

    Wind resistance mitigation

Who said nobody has developed one? In my thread I showed a link to a commercial one. 2nd, why do I need to make up stuff to appease strangers when they don't know me? The problem is: 1) most people tow with a truck and not a car, and its effectiveness on a truck decreases (due to larger gap)...

    Wind resistance mitigation

I am a researcher (at a university) and have colleagues at various departments. Checked with a colleague/friend in Mechanical Engineering and he was sure it helps before I started. The question was how to make the most efficient ones (which wasn't my goal from the begining). Usually getting to...

Why? You think it shouldn't help?

    Wind resistance mitigation

I built a wind deflector for our car and have been using it consistently. It reduces my consumption by about 15% in each trip which is well worth it. https://www.rvforum.net/threads/building-a-wind-deflector.131488/page-3#post-1275207
