    Canning Pickles question

Yeah, I made the same error last summer canning Pepperoncini from our garden. We treated as many as we could as cold pack and put the rest in the cool, dark basement, upside down so any leakage would be immediately visible. So far, no problems. Just look for anything growing in the sealed jars...

Is about 500 miles doable in a day?

You don't say if you are a seasoned TT tower and have just upgraded to a 5er,or if this is your first trailer. If you are a newby, we were ALL there at one time, there will be a stress factor your first time out for long distance towing that will lead to fatigue also. If you can, break it up...

    New RV Park Construction recommendations

For full service sites (and the dump station), sewer hookups that are in concrete (easier cleanup after the inevitable spill) sloped to the drain, and are below grade. Water (and s**t) does not flow uphill...

Roof repair - check in on process

When you replace the vent caps, replace the seal material as well. They come cut to length and can be found at RV parts stores or on Amazon.

    towing with F150

We have a 2014 F150 3.5 Ecoboost that tows our 25 footer like a dream. I'm happy with it and the fuel mileage even though it's the all steel version of the truck. I say go with the 3.5L, you will be happier.

    Looking for an amplifier

Acoustic guitars do better with amps made specifically for them. I have a 50 watt Marshall acoustic amp I really like. Fender makes a good one as does Fishman. Sometime you can find used Genz-Benz acoustic amps (they don't make them any more  :'( :'() on EBay. I have no experience with the...

What made you decide to retire early?

After 32 years (3 months, 15 days if you're keeping score t home) crushing crime, facing death and keeping the streets safe just wasn't fun anymore so i retired 3 months shy of my 57th birthday!!! That was 9 years ago and I have not regretted a minute of it. My DW worked until last year because...

    Dish Tailgator issues

we've had a Tailgater for 3 years now and really like it. As many have said, make sure you have good RG-6 cable and clear view to the south. A 20 buck or so cable tester helps prevent a LOT of frustration! Ours sits for weeks at a time in the basement so I generally have to call Dish and have...

    thousand trails

We bought a Zone Pass on a 'Buy one, get one free' promotion on a reference from friends who are avid TTers 4 years ago. We got the Northwest and Southwest zones and have been very happy as it works for our style. There are 4 of the campgrounds, or Preserves, within an hour(ish) drive of us so...

passengers in a TT or 5th wheel

In CA it's illegal in a TT, restricted in a 5er. Here's a link that may be helpful... http://www.everything-about-rving.com/can-passengers-ride-in-a-travel-trailer-or-5th-wheel-trailer-going-down-the-road.html

    Rant: I hate Mercedes Engineers

Well, pilgrim, changing out the 12 volt battery in the DW's '04 Prius was a similar exercise in frustration. It's 'conveniently' located in the right rear cargo compartment with plenty o' stuff to remove, and plenty o' opportunities to drop small, vital fasteners.  :o :o :o :o
