New owners of a 2002 Coachmen Santara

How about some pics?  We have a 1996 Santara 350FL Class A.  Don't see too many Santaras on the road. Congrats & enjoy. ps.  You didn't mention duck tape, bungee cords, and about a hundred other things you'll eventually find out about.

New Owner, School Me On Electrical System!

Zag- yes, I think it is safe to say that with the generator running, all 120V things should be hot.  Also, don't forget that there might be GFCI outlets in the bathroom and kitchen. This simple video explains it all clearly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLDgQg6bq7o

New Owner, School Me On Electrical System!

On a rig this old (mine's 2 years older) you're gonna have to be handy or rich.  I surfed the internet and found manuals for almost every appliance-fridge, furnace, range, converter, distribution panel, a/c, etc.  I downloaded them and made a binder I keep in the RV.  I plan on burning the pdf...

New Owner, School Me On Electrical System!

Now the air conditioning (a/c) issue.  That is powered by 120VAC, (household power), meaning either shore power, the genset, or the inverter.  However, unless you have a REALLY BIG inverter, and one heck of a battery bank, forget about running the a/c from the inverter.  I have a 2000 watt pure...

Zag- The geneset and the inverter are 2 different things.  Separate sources of 120V ac (alternating current, not air conditioning, which I write as A/C).  One does not go "through" the other. The genset changes rotational energy (through the internal combustion engine or other source, like a...

Zag- Do yourself a favor and buy this book:  http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/181428801815?lpid=82 The RV Repair and Maintenance Manual by Bob Livingston. It's my RV bible. Hopefully you are not confusing INverter with CONverter.  It's a common mistake I have seen a lot.  Shore power provides...

    Chapped/cracked hands

+1 on the superglue for cracked fingertips.  I prefer the cheap runny stuff (Dollar store) to the gel type. I have tried just about everything out there, and Working Hands (and Working Feet) do an excellent job.  But for the cracked fingertips, superglue is the ONLY thing that helps. It's like...

    Supply Plumbing Leaks

Thanks for the replies, folks.  Basically told me what I didn't want to hear, that there is no magic access hatch.  :) I pressurized the system with about 30 psi of air, and squirt bubble water at the fittings I could see.  All ok, but then I hear the faint "sssssssss."  That sound at least...

    Mirror adjustment fuse, 2005 INtruder

Follow the wires from the switch.  One of them should take you to a fuse, probably under the dash.  It could also be that the ground wire was ripped off as well, so check that. Good luck.

    Supply Plumbing Leaks

Hello all, I have a 1996 Coachmen Santara Class A 35' F53 Chassis I noticed my water pump would occasionally cycle on, even when all fixtures were closed and not dripping.  Couldn't see any water on the ground or inside, so I figured it might be a check valve or something.  BUT, dang it, today...

    Toilet Troubles - Newbie Question

As Sarge replied, the flange that attaches to the floor is a run-of-the-mill toilet flange. Sometimes they can be repaired with a flange repair kit, something like this.  There are a few different types...

Thinking about getting into RV'ing, wondering about cost

Aunti- Depends on how much you want to do vs. how much you want to pay other people.  It also has a lot to do with you comfort level regarding tackling projects.  E.g. if you want to add a solar panel, you can learn to do it yourself, pay someone else to install it, or go without.  IMHO, a...

where can I find this window trim?

It's called ranch casing, or sometimes clamshell casing. But flat casing sounds like a good idea for this application.

    Remodeling a 1985 Minnie Winnie

Fun, isn't it! And this has bugged me for a long time:  Who was the genius who decided that carpeting in an RV bathroom is a good idea?  Carpeting in ANY bathroom is a bad idea IMHO.  Just disgusting, especially carpeting under a toilet since 1985. Good luck, and have fun.

Circuit breaker - 2004 Gulfstream Ultra

My MH has them in a couple of places.  First follow the shore power cord-mine goes to a breaker box.  Then that feeds the panel under the fridge.  Also, the generator has 2 breakers, and they're kind of hidden on mine. Also, check the breaker in your house or wherever you were plugged into.
