Question about parking and national parks

Good to know, have you had any luck boondocking? Just park the RV on national forest land and call it a day?

Question about parking and national parks

Interesting I hadn't even considered the campground wouldnt permit large campers. We are trying to mostly stay places for free so thats less of a concern for that, but we will be staying in campgrounds sometimes too so good to know.

Question about parking and national parks

How was it finding free places? We plan to boondock and I know its very doable out in the desert, but we are hoping to boondock out in these national parks in our RV too!

Question about parking and national parks

Hey folks, I am planning a trip across the USA and am still in the process of choosing the vehicle. We are thinking a 30+ foot motorhome, and we were wondering something. We are hopign to stay inside national parks as often as possible, if this even doable in a motorhome? We know there are...

Size related issues, when is it too big?

Interesting! I love the idea of overlanding but even a base model empty van with 100k miles is 50,000$. This market is wild

Size related issues, when is it too big?

I think a class c is best with the dedicated bed that doesn't add 8 feet to the back, but how is it for the person on the inside who has to climb over to pee in the middle of the night? It looks now like I'll be going bigger which is okay, my searches for 2010 or newer and 20 feet yields 20...

    is this a nice truck?

I was thinking this same thing, insurance is scary and you never know. Thanks folks I think I'll go with a real manufactured motor home

Size related issues, when is it too big?

Thanks for the info! I will essentially be parking in rural/suburban areas, and national parks. I want to do some tourist stuff too though so I wasnt sure about small towns and stuff like that, sounds like a pain even in a 20 footer. It's not so bad though, that you said you may not use a tow...

Size related issues, when is it too big?

Hey folks I'm in the process of choosing an RV to travel the USA in, and sort of know what I need. I have always been told that a single space vehicle is easiest but I'm finding the options are very limited and usually expensive. For those of you who have vehicles larger than 20 feet or use a...

It's a 1992 kodiak and the parts are hard to come by, I just had all the fuel lines replaced with rubber because it was the only way they...

Planning the trip I always wanted

I am wondering what to paint it for sure, its got some racing stickers on the side since the guy used it to camp in pits during races. The colored lights are gone, only the white remain and the siren is gone too. When I stayed in my old RV for 2.5 years, I got used to being stopped in certain...

Planning the trip I always wanted

Theres a battery compartment behind and under the passenger seat where the house batteries are. It isnt heated and I don't know what kind of temperatures it gets to, so I think I should go with heated batteries but arent sure of that either. I could build a whole new system with the batteries...

Planning the trip I always wanted

That looks like a nice setup! The problem is I used a reputable company about 5 years ago for my first build, and I followed every instruction to the letter but it never worked. I installed it all myself via their instructions. Every time I turned it on, it blew the lynx shunt fuse. It was a...
