I would think the first question to ask is will you be doing much if any towing in the Rocky Mountains?  If not then don't worry about it.

Ah, so I can view any IP camera which is attached to a WiFi network.  Awesome.  Much more of a generic solution so long as you have a WiFi network running while driving.  Now to find outdoor rated rated IP cameras which would be suitable.
