Main DC fuse or circuit blown

Thanks, Kyle. I am still looking for the fuses. Tomorrow I'll chec under the hood. There seems to be some sort iof breaker in the battery compartment but I am not yet familiar with how it works. I gave the vehicle info in my OP. 2000 Ford E450, Gulf Stream Yellowstone class C. Thanks for the...

Thanks. I'll try to find it.

Main DC fuse or circuit blown

My slideout caused a problem. The slideout is not the purpose of this question however as I think I have figured it out. At any rate, my Dewald Power Gear slideout failed to stop trying to retract. While the hydraulic motor was whining (as it continued to run even though the slide out was...

    Slide Out Retraction Problem

Ouch, John. I hope I'll avoid $1,600. I ordered a new switch and hope that goes well. I am confounded at the moment how mine could even be hydraulic (which is what all the old Gulfstream brochures claim). I think I read that power gear could be a combination of electric motor and hydraulic, but...

    Slide Out Retraction Problem

Thanks, Ernie. I was just studying slide outs and am leaning towards mine being a Power Gear system, although the only Gulf Stream brochures I found from 2000 imply it is hydraulic. I have never seen any hydraulic hoses though. I still think it is a power gear system with perhaps a bad switch.

    Slide Out Retraction Problem

You know, that makes sense. Even as I was typing I couldn't help but conclude the switch might be the problem. Perhaps someone else will have an opinion on how the motor knows to switch off and if any adjustments are required. Thanks, John.

    Slide Out Retraction Problem

First, my motorhome is a 2000 Class C Gulfstream Yellowstone/Capri. I am not sure what the slide out mechanism is, but there are not cables or tracks on the sides, not tracks on the bottom, and I know it is not hydraulic. I recall only being able to see steel tubing on the underside with steel...

    Battery Solenoid Switch

    Thanks, John.

    Battery Solenoid Switch

One last thing, I'll also have the alternator tested. Pehaps the one of the orange wires are connected directly to the alternator and it has gone bad. I should also test to see if shore power is the second orange wire to both batteries charge during shore power.

    Battery Solenoid Switch

Ok, just tested everything. The short of it is, yesit looks like I am just going to find a new source for 12v on ignition, and give up figuring everything else at, unless an epiphany strikes me. 1) The solenoid tested fine. It is open but closes when 12v is supplied. The 12v on the RV side that...

    Battery Solenoid Switch

Thanks for the extra info. No, I have not fixed yet. Yesterday I looked at it briefly. I did trace that the second input wire seems to go back to the generator. Could it work that way? That the circuit is closed if either the ignition or genset is on? I am headed to it now to test that. I have...

    Battery Solenoid Switch

One more question. If one of the center leads goes to ground, then could it have ever worked? Maybe it never did (for the 3 years I've owned the MH) and I have not noticed. Maybe someone replaced a 4 terminal solenoid with a 3 terminal solenoid and connected both the 12v and the ground to the...

    Battery Solenoid Switch

Thanks. I doubt this will specifically help, but the dead terminal came back to life for a short period of time. So whatever my problem is, it is failing intermittently. If only one lead should attach to the center input terminal, then I wonder if the other lead is drawing power from that...

    Battery Solenoid Switch

I also found this, already discussed on the forum: This confirms some of my understanding, but I still need to diagnose exactly what is wrong in my vehicle. I should emphasize that the terminal marked "Dead" is ALWAYS dead. Whether the ignition key is ON or OFF, whether the vehicle is running...

    Battery Solenoid Switch

I have enclosed a picture of what I understand to be a battery solenoid. I thought it worked by allowing my cab battery to charge the RV battery only when the ignition key is on. But I might be misunderstanding the function and that is the purpose of my post, since the solenoid (I don't think)...
