Charles, We know what you are talking about. We leave in the morning from Fort Worth for Tucson. We have to be there the 18th to be parked. Would have liked to leave earlier but had doctor visits to complete.

Sounds like a plan. The big thing the OP needs to be shure about is if he is going to install a plug that he buys one with NPT threads not tubing threads. I ran into that helping someone that had done that. Fortunately we were able to clean up the threads.

I have to agree. When you break it down to weight to HP you are moving a lot of weight with little HP. It would probably help to have some more gears like the big trucks do.

Do you have the cruse on? Do you have it in Econ mode? Have you tried to manually down shift?
I would go back to the stock air filter because none of the after market air filters meets the specks set forth by Cummins. You could dust your engine.

Yes it is an amazing locomotive. I wonder how hard it would be to get the outher one I know of up and running again. It is currently in the Henry Ford Museum of American innovation. Hear is 414 up and running.
