    Show off your TV remodel

I took out the sofa in the curb side slide out and built this tv lift cabinet with fireplace and storage on each side.  Used the doors off of my old rv fridge to make the cabinet doors to match the others.

    Recliner considerations/recommendations?

These are the theater seats that we put in place of our reclining sofa.  The two recliners together are a total of 70 inches wide, which was almost exactly the width of the sofa.  They are powered recliners with power headrests that raise up and out.  I'm 6'5" and needed a high back recliner to...

Yes, we use the AT&T Netgear Nighthawk Hot Spot.  It works great.

Resale value for high mileage Journey

Condition and maintenance are more important than high miles on a diesel coach.  If the floor plan fits your needs and the coach has been maintained well and is in good condition with all systems working, I wouldn't be afraid of the high miles on a diesel.  You can use the NADA LOW price...

    Need Advice on Consignment Sale

Bill, I bought my previous Motorhome from the PPL consignment lot in Houston.  I lived in it full time, for part of the time, between 2011 to 2018.  I was pleased with their handling of my purchase in 2011.  In 2018 I bought another Motorhome from an individual and took my American Dream back...

Where were you 50 years ago? (Apollo 11)

I was 17 years old, just graduated from high school and watched it with my parents and 2 younger brothers on our old black and white tv.

    MPG and Towing Capacity

You might look at the Ram 1500 Eco Diesel.  It would tow that weight trailer easily and I've heard reports of mileage in the mid teens towing a trailer that size if you keep the speed in the 60 - 65 MPH range.

Class A V10 race car hauler

I think you are asking for trouble trying to pull 7,000 pounds with a gas coach that is only rated to pull 5,000 pounds and I don't know of any gas coach rated to pull more than 5,000.  The question is not whether or not the gas coach CAN pull that much weight, it probably would have the power...

    TV and Fireplace addition post?

Pat, Sorry I didn't see your post before. If you are doing a similar project I'll be glad to offer any help I can.  You may have already done it and, if so, post some pictures of your build.  It was a fun project for me to do and I love the new setup. Dan

Replacing a refrigerator, removing a couch in a Class A

I have replaced the RV fridge in 2 different Motorhomes and it does depend on the door size and configuration.  The first one was in my 2000 American Dream, and the RV fridge would not go out through the door, even with the passenger seat removed.  I had to remove the curb side window, take off...

no water coming out hot side of taps

Don, I have a 2005 Vectra and had the same problem recently.  The problem was the hot water line check valve.  Access to it is difficult  and is done through an opening underneath the coach below and behind the hot water heater.  The opening is about 3 or 4 inches wide and 9 or 10 inches long. ...

    New to me Winnebago Vectra

Yes it is a shame that they lost him.  His name was Wilson and he built some beautiful valances for the front of our American Dream back in 2014 when we had the shades installed.  I was so disappointed that he was no longer there.

    New to me Winnebago Vectra

Thank you for your reply.  She's been well cared for and looks pretty good for 14 years old.  We like her and hope to get many more years of adventures with her.

    New to me Winnebago Vectra

Thanks John, and yes, I will.  I had MCD shades installed in my American Dream back in 2014 and I did love them.  I didn't realize how much until I got the Vectra and it didn't have them.  Now I can't wait to get them installed on the Winnie.  I'm gonna have to modify the front TV cabinet that...

TV Lift Cabinet with Fireplace and Storage Build

Oh, and I forgot.  I do still have a dining table.  It is beside the theater seating.  I am currently working and using the dining table as my work table, so I have a couple of TV trays in between the dining table and the theater seats where I have my printer set up.  Both of the dining chairs...

TV Lift Cabinet with Fireplace and Storage Build

Thanks for the questions.  Yes, I removed the jackknife sofa where I built the tv lift cabinet and the other sofa/double recliner from the other side (picture below) and replaced it with the double theater seating.  The reclining double sofa with the pull out, pop-up ottomans came apart in...

TV Lift Cabinet with Fireplace and Storage Build

Thanks John.  I really like the way the Kreg system joins the pieces for cabinet work.  You're right, it's a slick system.

    New to me Winnebago Vectra

Thanks John.  I have read most, if not all, of your posts on the mods to your coach.  You've done a lot of upgrades and you do an excellent job on all of them.  My next one is to get MCD Shades installed.  I have an appointment to take it to MCD in McKinney on April 15 to get them installed.

    New to me Winnebago Vectra

It is a 2005 Vectra 40KD with 3 slides, King Bed, 2nd vanity in the bedroom.  I posted thread on my tv lift cabinet modification and I also replaced the Norcold 1200 RV fridge, which quit working, with a residential fridge.  I have also replaced the old Sealand toilet with an Aria II Deluxe...

TV Lift Cabinet with Fireplace and Storage Build

I promised to post a thread showing my modifications to my 2005 Winnebago Vectra that is new to me.  I started this project and did most of the work on it over the Christmas/New Years Holidays and just competed the project last week. The TV in our Winnie is mounted in the front, like many...

    New to me Winnebago Vectra

Just wanted to post a note here since I am a new Winnebago owner and have not posted in the Winnebago Owner Specific section before.  I have been a member of the forum since 2006 and this is my third motorhome since that time.  I previously owned a 1998 Tiffin Allegro and a 2000 Fleetwood...

Who drives the OLDEST Class A here?

I drive a 2000 Fleetwood American Dream that I bought 7 years ago when it was 11 years old.  This is my third motorhome and I've bought each one when it was 8-11 years old.  I love my 18 year old rig and wouldn't trade it for a new one.  I've got it fixed just like I like it.  Don't be afraid to...

Like Gary said it is largely floor plan dependent and several models could have had that option.  I rarely see a large tub in the newer model motorhomes but older ones seem to have had them more often, usually in the 40 foot or longer models.  When we were looking, one of the things my wife...

    Open Road Tiffin Motorhomes?

I have had 2 Tiffin Motorhomes in the past - a 1983 29' and a 1998 26'.  Both were built on a Chevy chassis with the 454 engine.  I loved both of them and would have bought a third one if I could have found the right one.  Tiffin provides excellent service as well and stands behind their...

    Need cellphone booster

My coach is 40 feet so mounting the outdoor antenna on the rear ladder and the booster in a cabinet over the driver's seat gives me more than the 20' separation that is needed.  The cable for the indoor antenna is only about 5 or 6 feet long so I put it down on the dash and that puts it about 5...
