No overnight parking at rest area?

are u people really discussing back n forth reasons to stop at a campground or at a rest stop? Which belt buckle hole do you prefer and why? Name 5 reasons you choose one buckle hole over the other and give supporting evidence. I think that would be a more interesting discussion.

    Heating when boondocking

I had some old tires on a motorhome that blew up while driving. Does that mean Firestone tires are bad and will blow up? Im not following Seiler post. Pex, to me, seems like the best option for pipes that freeze. If someone had a bad plumber 25 years ago and pex leaked then that speaks bad of...

    Heating when boondocking

Did the pex burst from freezing? Sounds like you just had a really really bad plumber - I mean a really bad plumber. Pex, when done right, should not leak 5 times. There are plastic fittings and there are brass fittings. Plastic is weaker, but should not leak when done right, it is almost...

No overnight parking at rest area?

Yes, it means what it says. More important, what it says is vague and ambiguous. Cops will show up at 3am to ticket you. You can argue what "overnight parking" is and try to define it, but the cop will still ticket you and say you can discuss it with the judge. The judge will say that the...

    Experience with Millennium Repossessed Cars

Buy it assuming the worst, and if you are into renno then just assume everything, including a water-damaged roof and walls will need work. It is a good bet that most appliances will work, but the shape of the wood and aluminum siding is a good bet something is wrong. Most used campers have...

    Heating when boondocking

A friend left his RV sitting full of water for 13 years. It had pex with brass fittings. Freeze thaw for 13 years. No pipes burst. Water heater full of water was fine. The fresh tank was full but by then was also green. Water pump was fine. I have yet to hear of pex bursting. PEx does not...

Inverter only serving one outlet for bedroom tv

Great, now we got the legal issues out of the way we can stop talking about its dangers, or should we chime in more about the dangers? Some of you have not expressed a reaction to the horror of doing something dangerous. Let's hear those knee-jerk comments....

Solar Necessary for Boondocking w/ 12V Fridge?

yep, if you drive long every day then the vehicle will be enough to charge the batteries, you're overnight parking it sounds like more than boondocking.

    Tankless

There are 120 volt electric tankless heaters of course and people do use them in campers and do run them off generators, but I still would not unless I was always at a hook-up where I could shower without turning the water off during the shower time. Seems like a good and smart idea, but just is...

Solar Necessary for Boondocking w/ 12V Fridge?

Don't buy a system unless you have $5,000 to throw away or want to stimulate the economy. You build your own. There is nothing special about a system other than you get it in one box. On eBay buy some 12 volt panels. the panels put out 18 volts or sometimes 20 volts, but is what a 12 volt...

    Water transfer pump...

you dont want to "mess with a cord" so you are asking about a self-contained battery powered pump? Everyone is showing you pumps that have to be plugged in. I am betting that you already know about all the RV water pumps people are showing you - if you know what a pump is then you know that...

    Converting Honda generator to propane

No, this guy is posting the same, simple question on multiple forums and posting multiple topics of the same question on multiple forums. Propane conversions are a fine topic, but it is so simple that there really is no need to post to multiple RV forums. No harm in posting the same reply...

Solar Necessary for Boondocking w/ 12V Fridge?

Roberk gets about half the power from his solar when it rains, so it takes a little over twice as long to charge the batteries? big deal. 2 hours in full sun, 4 in the rain? The solar works without your being there, so what if it takes all day as long as it charges? i have 200 watts of solar...

    Heating when boondocking

If you have a mercury thermostat you can just tilt the thermostat to the left and alter the reading so you can set the temp at a very low one. Thermostats usually only can be set down to about 50 or so, leaning a mercury-switched one to the left will allow you to set it any temp. You can set it...

Do you post every question on multiple RV forums? I am seeing the same question everywhere, many of the same questions repeated on the same day. I am guessing it is you. Just pick a forum and post once. These question you post are so basic and so simplistic. Any search engine on the...

Solar Necessary for Boondocking w/ 12V Fridge?

Use your internet search and look at the images on the search result: "frame mount battery tray" The yellow one was the one I had in mind. All of them look workable. It will work for your motor home the same as it would on a trailer. I think more are for motorhomes than trailers, but the...

Solar Necessary for Boondocking w/ 12V Fridge?

yes, you did that math, that worked for you. I still won't be asking for battery advice... no offense. There are battery trays that hook on a vehicle frame (p/u trucks) but could work the same on a trailer frame, no welding necessary. It is permanent and won't wear out in 5 years either.

Does the generator supply unstable power during startup?

Have you, perhaps, plugged a light into the generator (camper outlet) and watched to see if the light turns on as the gen is cranking or does it wait 20 seconds as one forum user claims yours should? The old generators would make the light flicker as the gen got up to speed and then glow steady...

    Valve stem

Safety for some is a concern. lol I had rubber ones in that the tire place put in, Im sure they were for cars, these guys were not the the brightest. At 80psi cold the tire was 130psi when driving and loaded heavy - tires get hot and psi goes up. I never had any issues with valve stems over...

Solar Necessary for Boondocking w/ 12V Fridge?

I think Isaac would have been better spoken to point out that roof top solar panels will not be putting out 80 amps in one hour. You would need quite the solar set up for that. Also, if you are plugged into a charger from household current, then this whole discussion goes out the window for...

Solar Necessary for Boondocking w/ 12V Fridge?

lots of knee-jerk comments. Every situation is different. Telling about things that work, and making up things that you work out on paper can be vastly different. I do not know any situation where a battery needs to absorb 80 amps in one hour for example. Irrelevant info. What viewpoint that...
