What a piece of CRAP. It probably would be easier to say what does work on my little over-a-year-old 2022 Thor Freedom Elite. The expression lipstick on a pig is what you get with a Thor Motor home. They look nice on the showroom floor, but you are looking at the lipstick. Own it for a year, use it a couple of times, and the piss poor quality of materials and the shoddy workmanship shine through.

The propane gauge reads empty when the tank is 2/3 full. The black water tank reeds full when it is less than 1/4 full. The Formica countertop and table are delaminating. The table is broken again - fixed twice before. The paneling is so cheap (more like cardboard than real wood), and so poorly stapled that it is literally falling off the walls. Screws that were screwed into the super cheap walls have all ripped out and there is no good repair because the panel boards are paper thin and the cheapest quality wood-like material they won’t hold a screw even with epoxy or wood glue. The blinds, for example, are falling off the walls and you can’t get the screws to hold by any means. The plastic film (super cheap) is peeling off the walls in numerous places because the glue they used can’t take the heat of Arizona. The microwave nearly fell out of its hole in the cabinet when its screws fell out. The shower floor support has given way and drops 2 inches every time you step on it. They forgot to seal some places around the shower and there is water damage where they forgot to seal. The refrigerator door latch does close every time. The bathroom door doesn’t close unless you move the wall back in place that holds the door - the wall literally moves back and forth. The opening roof vents are so cheap plastic and the plastic has already failed. Talking with another owner they said they carry two spares and a roll of duck tape. You need the duct tape because the two spares are not enough if you get a light hail storm it will crack all the vents and you get water everywhere if you don’t tape them up. The other two plumbing vents (again such cheap thin plastic) have already broken off in the wind.

We were lied to when we were told Thor was a quality-built motor home. There is no quality in any aspect of this piece of crap. Just try using the shower head. The motor home sites tell you to replace that right away as they can’t even put in a shower head that works.

You’re not the only one that got burned. Am dealing with my POS 2022 keystone 5th wheel. Will be its 8th trip for repairs this week. Hope you purchased an extended warranty. If you did, use it for things you can’t repair. Would suggest you check your states lemon laws.

We bought a 2023 Thor Quantum KW29 earlier this year and are having similar issues. We’ve repaired or improved with similar curse-words. The safety net thing in the bunk over the drivers seat fell out of the ceiling when two of our cats who were wrestling bumped against it. Kids, or the 250 pound person it’s supposed to hold would have fallen out. Have you been locked out yet? A very common occurrence apparently. Google it. Keep an extra set of keys for the driver side door handy. Had to use a grinder to remove the door lock, cats locked inside. Called Thor to ask about a new lock for the door, they weren’t going to admit is was a faulty lock design and they weren’t willing to send us a new one, in fact the new one cost $271. They could have cared less. The only way we got the new lock from them, for a price, was to tell them we’re retired and have all the time in the world to write bad reviews in all the places we could find to write them. That said, my husband is handy, we’ve improved and repaired to the point where we believe there won’t be anymore surprises. Apparently, quality in the RV world has slipped in the past few years because of the demand.

We had a Thor 5th wheel back in the late 90’s. Had a problem with the front cap, a bent middle axle and a fried wiring harness. Took it to the factory and convinced them to pay for our hotel until they got everything fixed. It took them less than a week.

Thor Industries manufacturers the most different brands of RV of any company in the RV business, since the collapse of the former Fleetwood Industries. As such they build to pretty much all RV markets from the lowest price point to near the highest price point. Like most any other product line, the lower the price point, the lower the quality of the product.

One problem with the RV industry is that most people buy more on pretty & price and few will pay what it costs to have real quality control. The RV industry history is littered with companies that have failed because they tried to maintain high quality ahead of price.

Thank you for your complaints. It made me feel better about our 6 feet by 2 and 1/2 feet window on our 2023 Travel Trailer. The double pane rear window shattered into little sharp blades of safety glass scattered throughout the interior. Happened on the washboard roads within the San Rafael Swell yesterday. I taped up the humongous sized hole last night and will enjoy the rest of our boondocking. Enjoy 😉.

Welcome!

Hit the propane tank softly with a rubber mallet a few times to free the sensor. Not a big deal.

My empty black water tank showed full the day I purchased my 2022 Class A in 2021. I didn't even care or bother to mention it. IMAO, they should not even put such black water tank sensors in RVs. I never pay attention to them as they are always full of S***. IMO, they are not needed anyway. Who has ever dumped a black tank without dumping a gray tank a few seconds after? So just assume your black tank is full at the same time as your gray tank.

BTW, I looked at a Thor Axis first, before I purchased this.

Notice in that above link in the very first message where I said:

" Doesn't have the cheap feel of the Thor Axis."

We were lied to when we were told Thor was a quality-built motor home.
From a salesman? That is to be expected. A good salesman is an extra good liar. In this case, "good salesman" means can sell the most. Means nothing else.

Do you blame him. He purchased a unit listed at $189,000 and found a bunch of problems. That’s a lot of scratch to put out for an inferior product.
No, I don't blame him. Rather that he could have stuck around for the replies. There are RV lemon laws in some states and some defective stuff like the axles on our 2023 TT I fought back hard on relentlessly. It's going to be replaced and fixed under warranty at no cost to us. Not certain what to do about losing our 6 feet by 2.5 feet rear window since the 1 year warranty ended on September 6. Keeping my head up. Complaining about it doesn’t fix it. Making it known to the manufacturer that you aren't accepting it as it is gets it done.

He never said what he paid, it was Ohiosnowbird who said he paid $189k for a 2023 Thor Quantum KW29. Camping World has the Thor Freedom Elite, a class C for between $120k & $130k. I'd bet you can find that exact post on some other RV forums. While I am no fan of Thor products, if you think that they only build junk, go visit an Airstream gathering.

I did a little bit of research and found the above advertisement from Mc Kee RV, located in Perry, IA. We shopped for a class C a long time ago and never found any that we liked so didn't buy one. We haven't been in the RV market for several years and do find the prices today breath taking!

Our Quantum listed for that. We got a “deal” at much less.

There have been many issues we’ve addressed, just finishing up installing a washer and dryer. Always surprises, nothing’s what it seems - or should be. Stupid washer leaked because the drain Thor installed wasn’t put together correctly nor was it serviceable; we had to cut three holes in the closet wall to find the leak in the drain. It was so much work to get them shoved into the space, I thought hubby would cry when I told him it was leaking. We didn’t want to take it out of the space.

The fit&finish details have been atrocious for what we did pay. Thor has become a curse word. The 2024 has a very nice shower, we tried to get one to replace the silly one in the 2023 version we have. They basically said “good luck getting one“. Customer support has been a joke so far.

We paid cash using the proceeds from selling our rental property. The president of the company sent a post card, a post card, (I repeated that because it was so hokey) thanking us for our purchase. I plan to send one humdinger of a review/list of all the issues we’ve had to the gentleman who “signed” the post card. Not sure what it will achieve, but the first few drafts have been cathartic. We’re not ”happy campers“. We’ve fixed all of the “surprises” we’ve found, we‘d rather DIY than have the dealer keep it for months and months. So if you’re thinking about a Thor Quantum, we’d be happy to answer questions. I wouldn’t say it’s a piece of crap like the OP, we recognize the industry went through a pretty good upheaval with the covid madness, but still, you’d think with the money they’re asking, some of these simple things could have been handled correctly.

Rant over.
