Out of the 124 DC fast chargers in Quartzsite, 120 are for Tesla. 84 at the Terrible Herbst, 36 more a couple of blocks away at the Carl's Jr.

And four total for CCS-1 at Love's Travel shop.

My Tesla can use any of the 124 DC Fast Chargers. My Chevy Bolt can only use the four CCS-1.

Not a single J-1772 in all of Quartzsite for my electric motorcycle that I have here. The closest J-1772 is in Blythe, CA which is only 27 miles west of here. That could be handy if I had a reason to go west from here.

But I can charge it fine with my 5.5 KW Onan as I charge up my RV batteries at the same time, so not a big deal.

Have you seen many EV's there?
No, just one Tesla charging at the Carl's JR at one of their 36 charge stations. Nobody using the other 35 chargers.

I have no idea why there are 124 DC Fast Chargers here in Quartzsite. But Superchargers/DCFCs are not for those who live here, they are mainly for those who are travelling through.

I assume there is a reason, but I have no idea why so many DC fast chargers here. Whatever the reason is, it is not for this time of year.

What I see a lot of are RVs, not EVs out here. I don't think I have ever seen so many RVs in one area before. I have no idea what the big attraction here is in Quartzsite, but I assume it's because it is a very cheap place for the countless snowbirds to stay for the winter. IIRC, it cost $180.00 for seven months out here. $40.00 for two weeks, which can be renewed every two weeks. So $80.00 for a month.

But even the many RV parks out here are crammed full.

Amazing isn't it? We've been there probably about 10 times over the years.

Kinda fun. We always stay at a full hookup site in town.
So what is the big attraction in Quartzsite that draws a half million RVs or so? I mean compared to all the other possible areas in AZ.

and like sturgis and burning man it became a tradition.
Tom & I "accidently" went to Deadwood/Sturgis in our RV when the motorcycle rally was going on, what a big mess that was. Even though I am into motorcycles I didn't realize it was going on then and I even wondered why I was seeing large groups of motorcycles headed in the same direction when we were out in the middle of nowhere.

Even though I lived close to Burning Man when it was in San Francisco, also the same for Reno, I have never been there. Same with the Street Vibrations in Reno--I have never gone to it. I don't care much for crowds, and I usually avoid them.

There are also six "Rivian Only" 200KW DCF Chargers at:

Daniel's Really Good Fresh Jerky

Quartzsite, AZ 85346, USA

It seems to me that Rivian has been adding to the problem of no charging standard.

Rivian uses CCS right now but will be switching to tesla (NACS) standard in second quarter. Hyundai already has. Rivian has begun to open there network to everyone but won’t be changing their cables to tesla (NACS) until next year.

I10 is a busy corridor. On weekends and especially holiday weekends those superchargers have seen 70 percent capacity usage. There use to be huge lineups until the stations were added.

What I assumed. Just wasn't busy when I checked. Also, since they are all new 250 KW chargers, people will not be there all that long.

IMO, this is what made Tesla the most popular EV for longer trips.

I like the way Tesla does things. They need 84 chargers max but only on an extra busy days?

So they build 120 Tesla Superchargers and also make their cars CCS compatible and can use all 124 chargers. So nobody waits at any time to get to a charger--if a Tesla or Tesla compatible car. After a short break, back on the road.

They also build on the model of 7 year projections. Don’t build how many they need now. Build on how many they need en el futuro.

Shame on them for trying to sell a product before there was a standard lol
There was a race to be the new standard. Tesla won and all for good reasons.

But if it were not for Tesla, I would be better off!!!

Then there would be a lot more CCS chargers out there, which was supposed to be the USA standard from the beginning--until Tesla came around and decided on their own design.

But for my Energica motorcycles, for now, they can only use the Tesla Magic Docks, four locations in all of CA, zero in all of Nevada. And I almost never need to charge my cars on the road, but I do quite often with my Energica motorcycles.

And there is a good chance they’ll remain that way (not all that busy)for a while. But god knows we spent ALOT of tax dollars to subsidize building it.

AFAIK, Tesla pays for their own chargers, and they used to make no profit. With any money made from Supercharging, they built more and more Superchargers & with that they and ended up with the biggest and best charging network there is in the USA.

But I think they now do make some profit and is somewhat subsided now that they are somewhat opened to non-Telsas. I am not sure how it works these days, as a lot of this has recently changed.

Complete BS. Just google it it’s everywhere-not on extreme news sites or pro or anti EV sites. Tesla received millions in govt subsides to build charging stations.

Tesla received millions in govt subsides to build charging stations.
But AFAIK, NOT when they could only charge Teslas and nothing else.

That was why Tesla opened to others.

"Tesla has received grants to build a total of 41 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in the U.S. The National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program, under the Biden administration, allocated $5 billion to build more EV chargers, with Tesla being one of the recipients"

To build 41 chargers out of their 2,128 USA Superchargers? And that is a big deal? Is only 41 of their locations compatible with non-Tesla? That is pretty bad, IMO.

Besides that, I think you know what recently happened to that program.
