I found a 91 Allegro at a local dealership in great condition. At least it appears so on the surface. Since my wife and I are newbies at the Motorhome game, I would appreciate some advice and thoughts on this unit. They are asking $9000. What do I need to check out? Since it was a trade in, they are not offering any service records, so i don't know what has been done. i know any used unit is a crap shoot, but what is the general quality of this make and year? The motor is a ford 460 and has 46000 miles on it. what are your thoughts? How doe this unit handle on the road, in the mountains, etc? Should I have it brought in to an independent shop to have the systems inspected?

Definitely have it inspected!!!!! Check the date codes on the tires and look for signs of water staining on the ceiling.  Look in the Library for some checklists and use those.

Tiffin make a good coach and may still have some of the specialized parts for that coach (if you ever need them)

NADA has the M-28 at $5,230 avg. retail and $4,340 low retail, so the price is way high for that unit. If it needs tires (older than 7 yrs.) I would not pay more than 4,000 if all else works well.

Click on the LIBRARY tab above and then focus in on buying an rv and newcomers need to know. There is a ton of good info there.
