Hey all, I?m currently working on fixing up a camper I got for $500, the camper will mostly be used for hunting but I want to be able to park at campgrounds so I want everything working. I started with the roof and decided to tear everything out (plywood and rubber roof) and replaced with new. I did something different with roof, instead of rubber I made metal panels. Just have the A/C and vents to install and should be done and on to doing inside. Trying to download pics

Welcome, look forward to the pics.  Sounds like the sky and wallet are the limits  :)

Haha no the wallet and sky on a budget lol, it?s really not in bad shape for 500 hell the new fridge is worth that. Metal wise well I do that for a living so it wasn?t to expensive just material cost

What does the outside look like. Is it cosmetically in nice shape?  Some CG won't let junky RV's in their park. In fact I've heard that there are some that won't let you in if the RV is over a certain age. I've never personnaly seen that though.

I've never seen State Parks or Fed places limit that, just higher end parks.

I agree, nice handy work.  Keep us updated with progress, we all like success stories and will help out if we can.
My old class C had an aluminum roof, I never felt it was going to leak, it never did, and I never worried about it.  My 2012 Travel Trailer, I inspect the roof 2X a year worried something might be splitting or cracking.

Here are some pics of the camper when I bought it and before washing it. I?ll take some later of it washed lol

$500, you got a steal.  Solid Roof, your good to go.  Does plumbing and all work?  If not, pretty easy stuff with pex.  I'll probably catch heck, but I had an older Class C, and when it would get pitted up and dirty, I used this stuff called Wesley Bleach White for car tires, oh my, great stuff.  It even cleaned my awning like new.  I would then wash with a car wash / wax, looked great for a year, repeat.  If not previously said, totally replace the tires if they are more than 7-8 years old, even if they look good, grease the bearings too.  If you don't know how to look at tires, there will be a 4 digit number.  Example: 3315, means made in 33 week of 2015. Old tires are ugly mishaps pulling a trailer.  Great find tho, enjoy.

Not sure what works yet but the previous owner said only thing that didn?t was the heater. I have a buddy that owns a place that sells propane products so I?m going to have him check everything
