1995 Gulf Stream Tourmaster Wiring Diagrams and A/C Thermostat Wiring

I am in need of all wiring diagrams for my coach. I got this coach from my brother who was in the process of remodeling it and with most of the interior striped wiring all hanging some it tact but most has been disconnected from the fixtures. The heaters are gone and I am trying to get the ac units working. One has 110 power but the thermostat was disconnected. Can anybody suggest how I can wire the 12 volt side of the system to operate the ac units without heaters in place. It is very hot outside and I am cooking inside here trying to figure out how to restore this coach's wiring issues without access to diagrams from the factory. I need some help here if you have diagrams or just a good basis for Gulf streams wiring codes as they don't publish this information and I don't have the funds to take it to a dealer. I have a fair knowledge base of electrical concepts but don't want to guess at things I can't afford to have go wrong. I would be very grateful for any help I can get with this project. Hard to guess how/where the 12v thermostat wires run in that old coach. At the most basic level, any 12v source can power the thermostat, but without a lot more detail on the existing thermostat & its wiring, as well as the a/c and its circuit board, we can't begin to guess how to hook it to the a/c's circuit board.

What thermostat & what make/model of a/c? You might be able to find install instructions for those even after 30 years. Or a newer model that is close enough to figure it out.

I don't understand what heaters have to do with the air conditioning operating but it probably does need a thermostat operational. I doubt that wiring diagrams for that coach were ever available to the public, but I did locate a brochure for it on the Gulf Stream website. That brochure states that it follows automotive color codes and this is what I was able to locate on those.

The furnace is often the 12v source for the thermostat in an RV that has a common t-stat for heat & a/c. But the thermostat doesn't really care about the source because in general all it does is put +12v on an output wire to indicate a status, e.g. demand for heat or demand for cooling or maybe fan speed. Typically a VERY simple system.

Probably the simplest solution to his immediate problem is to wire in a cheap & simple thermostat for the a/c only. Here's one at Walmart - there is even a basic wire diagram in the advertisement. But he needs the corresponding wiring info for the a/c unit too or he has to guess how it matches the thermostat diagram.

The catch is that those thermostats are connected to a control circuit board that is inside of the air conditioner. The only ones that I have worked on got their 12V from that circuit board, but it might work with another source. I don't really know as I have never tried to do that. Have you made that test? It would be interesting to know if it would.

That diagram indicates it requires +7.5v now where is that voltage in a RV? Maybe it can handle +12VDC but without an instruction book... dunno.

Typically a unit like that will work nicely with voltage anywhere between 7.5v & 16v, but I'm not giving a warranty. If you aren't willing to risk $10, buy one of the more elegant and better documented examples. BTW, you can buy the same thermostat with the Dometic brand name on the front for around $65.
