Still shopping for an RV.

One of these for sale locally.  2001 Newmar "NewAire"  From research definitely a bit of an oddball design; supposedly only 40 were made.  custom chassis but good Cummins diesel.

What repuitation, if any, did they have for troubles or reliability?

With so few made, there is essentially zero info on reliability. To the best of my knowledge, there were no particular problems associated with the brand (except a lack of buyers).

The previous generation Newaire was a response to a growing desire for a "downsized" RV without losing the high class coach amenities and quality.  Dealers said they had customers who wanted a nice rig but not so big (36-38 ft was the common "big" size back then).  The showcase in the advertising was a widow lady who wanted to continue RVing after her husband passed, but didn't need a big coach any more. Unfortunately, there weren't a lot of those widow ladies buying coaches.  At the same time, the other end of the spectrum was also increasing in demand and buyers flocked to ever-large coaches, 40, 43, and 45 ft.  The Newaire went the way of the Dodo bird.

Recently Newmar resurrected the Newaire brand for a 33 ft coach, again becasue of a supposed demand for smaller but elegant rigs.  There has been some market success with 26-33 ft diesel coaches from other manufacturers, so maybe the Newaire will catch on this time.
