We have been experiencing exhaust fumes inside our coach.  I noticed that the "wall" above the batteries that is part of the compartment under the washer/drier does not seem to be sealed all the way.  The bottom has two screws holding it, but the sides do not.  What would be the best sealant to use for this application?

Depending on what the material is,, I would suggest a good Poli Urethane sealant.>>>Dan ( I would also be looking for any exhaust leaks in your exhaust system)

Exhaust fumes typically come from the engine compartment, seeping upwards into the bedroom area. There is typically an engine access hatch in the rear bedroom floor and its seals may be damaged or out of position.

Gray & black waste water fumes often smell surprisingly like exhaust.  If you drive with any windows or skylights open, it sometimes creates negative pressure inside that sucks fumes from the sink & shower drain traps.

Any side seam can be sealed with a exterior grade general purpose caulk (sealant).  Geocel Proflex RV is an excellent choice, but most any exterior window & door sealant will work.

check you exhaust pipe for leaks too.
we could smell exhaust in the bedroom when we had our 2005 Bounder, turned out to be a rusted out piece of the exhaust pipe. I was able to remove the entire assembly and replace the bad piece and reinstall, no more smell after that.

Since most class A's are made similar to each other I can offer up what I had to do to cut down the diesel smell.

    1. Make sure the dog house over the engine is latched and the gasket is proper and in place
    2. Caulk the seams where the dog house meets the floor and back wall.
    3. Inspect the  opening in the rear around the radiator cutout, it it is rear discharge. I had to foam
        the entire 1 1/2 opening.
    4. On our winnebago the tail light buckets would leak fumes into the bedside cabinets that were
        behind them on the inside.

All this was done after fixing the cracked exhaust manifold and manifold leaks.

Lots of luck finding all of them.
