Hi gang,
I've owned my Vectra for one year and love it.  One thing on this coach that confuses me is a wall plug in the utility compartment (compartment that houses the shore plug).  Their is something plugged into this outlet, but not sure what it is.  Even though it appears that the outlet would let you plug two things into it, one of the female outlets is false.  It appears to be installed for a specific purpose.  I've unplugged what ever is plugged into there and doesn't seem to make anything inside the coach stop working.  I've tried to plug a utility light into this outlet and it doesn't seem to have power going to it.  Confused,
Thanks,
Rob.

That is your engine heater.  You should have a switch inside someplace where you turn it on to pre heat your engine on cold days.  It has it's own plug so that it may be plugged into it's own power source.  You notice I avoided the term "block heater" as technically it heats the combustion air.

I don't think that makes sense to me. Every block heater I ever used warmed the coolant and some were mounted at the freeze plug. I am not sure I would subscribe to the theory that heating the air for a few seconds would start a diesel. But maybe I misunderstand your point.

Exactly.  The outlet in the electric bay is switched, the switch is at/near the top of your OnePlace Center.  When you need the heater, plug the cord in that outlet and flip the switch on in the OnePlace Center.

My MH has two outlets in the electric bay. One is for the engine heater and one is for the converter.  Both are clearly labeled.

Correct, except that this IS the block heater which heats the coolant via a 120V AC heating element.  There should be a switch on the One Place center (probably upper right corner).  Not to be confused with the 12V DC grid heater which pre-heats the input air when the key is turned on and the WAIT TO START lights is lit before starting a cold engine.
