Hello!
I have a 2008 Fleetwood Bounder on W22 Workhorse Chassis with 8.1L engine. On our most recent trip we started getting a howling noise in left front between 50 and 60MPH, less than 50 goes away, more than 60 goes away.  Later on in the trip the transmission starting acting funny, odometer and speedometer stopped work, the PRNDL where the gears show incorrect and hard shifting.  Once you completely stopped needed to have the engine at 2,500 RPMS or more before it would move.
We had the vehicle towed, now everything works fine. It appears once RV shut off computer reset and no codes. We still have the noise in the left front, RV facility removed the hub and bearing they looked fine but grease seals rotted low on fluid. This did not fix my problem. They checked all the connections, grounds etc. checked wiring in the column up to ignition switch etc. They
Anyone out there which had this problem or has mechanical abilities,  I would appreciate the input please.
The RV facility just does not want to start replacing parts.
Thank You

"Howling" covers a multitude of sounds and problems. Anything from a wheel bearing to a fan.  The Workhorse W22 has auxiliary electric engine fans and they can really make some noise; some folks have equated it to a jet engine roar.  I drove one for 5 years myself and agree that it can be shockingly loud and its scary the first time you hear it.    I mention that because some of your symptoms could be caused by an overheated transmission. Another possibility is that the engine computer went whack for a bit and sent the wrong power info to the transmission. That will cause it to make incorrect decisions about gears.

You didn't mention the name of that "RV facility", but few of them have any chassis experts and certainly not engine/tranny specialists. You probably need a shop that really knows the Workhorse chassis, 8.1L engine and Allison 1000 transmission.
