2013-2017 Ford Focus battery quick disconnect

I want to replace the weird OEM cable with a simple post connector that has a quick disconnect for 4 down towing. I don't understand the strange pieces on the OEM post end of the cable. Can someone help me before I make a potential blunder? Thanks very, very much.

I helped a neighbor change a battery in a Focus a while back. I think that negative cable has a sensor built into it that communicates with either the ecu or the body ecu. I?d suggest intensive research before installing a disconnect in that circuit. There?s probably a work around.
