3 M Front protector

Need a little help! My new DP arrived with the 3 M protector on the front. Naturally the first thing I did was to scrape a spot on the bumper area about the size of a quarter. I thought I'd just cut the damaged area out with an xacto knife and wax the area well. But, I think cutting with the xacto may cut the paint underneath. Any suggestions? Thanks for the help.

If you just have a small area of damage to the film, I wouldn't worry about it. You're going to get occasional dings, but it's unlikely the next rock will  land in exactly the same place as one of the prior ones.
