Hello All,

Looking for some much needed advice. I managed to secure a sweet deal on a 2006 K-Z Escalade 36KS. Now I need to figure out what my options are for a truck to tow this behemoth. As a total neophyte to this world, I am asking for some much needed expert advice.

What type of 3/4 or full ton truck am I looking for here? Can I use a 3/4 diesel or would I need a full ton truck?

Here are the specs for her.

K-Z Escalade
Models 36KS
UVW (Unloaded Vehicle Wt.) 12620
Dry Hitch Weight 1940
Dry Axle Weight 10680
NCC (Net Carrying Capacity) 3380
GVWR 16000
Interior Height 93"
Exterior Width 96"
Exterior Length 37'2"
Exterior Height 151"

Looking forward to some pointers.

Much appreciated

my girlfriend and I fully refurbished a 33 foot Keystone GVWR 10500. i got a good deal on a fixer upper 2002 F350 with the 7.3 Liter Diesel engine. I will not be braking any speed records with it, but it pulls it just fine. I do local towing with some hills in central NC. not sure I am helping any, but wanted to share this refence. good luck

Think a 3500 dually. A 2500 series is simply not enough. Same for a 3500 SRW.
Think of it this way, 20% of the 16,000 GVWR is 3200 pounds. In the real world that could bloom to 3500 pounds in just pin weight. Add 250 pounds for the hitch. Weight for fuel, two average adults, plus normal gear and the truck could weigh 8000 pounds before dropping the trailer on it. Hope you get the picture here?

Donn,

Thanks, that's a big truck. But that makes sense, when you factor in additional weight being added for the trip, it quickly adds up to a significant amount.
