60 amp breaker at pedestal

The breaker at the pedestal shows 60 instead of 50. Last night the power went off and then back on, micro was blinking.
I checked the Progressive Industries surge protector and it currently shows E0 and PE2, previously error code open ground.
Everything looks correct on display.
Maintenance is coming out to look at it.
Maybe they put in a 60 amp breaker by mistake, who knows.
Let you know what happens......
Thanks

The 60A breaker would/could not affect an 'open ground' condition or your enjoyment of the electricity.
So their ground, your plug ground connection or the ground connection in the protector is at fault if the protector actually saw a fault. It is a 'computer', who knows!
It looks like a well used outlet, maybe clean the ground prong(s) and remove/insert the plug a few times to clean the connection (with the breaker "off") and hopefully the maintenance person comes to look.

Per the manual E-0 means All is good normal operation
PE#.. Well there used to be an "E" but it is cleared.

Likely as the plug was fully inserted.

I once got an open ground on my TRC.. Overroad it and told park who found not the ground but one of the other screws (I think neutral but don't quote me) needed tightening.. (I suspect he tightened them all) (NOTE The park electrician is the one I talked to,,, not the manager (Go right to the source and ask the horse he'll give you the answer you can endorse) (oh wait.. yes I am that old)

We are at the Monterey Fairgrounds. The Maintenance manager stopped by yesterday and said during the fair the campground is full of vendors and the 60 amp breakers were put in as a failsafe in case they over loaded the breaker? ..... They just haven't done all of them yet.
It was decided that I would plug into the 50 amp in the site next to me and while we were gone he would open the box and inspect the wiring. The box for the site next door is on the other side of my pedestal.
Later today I will see what they found.

Typical non-qualified hack work, the 60 amp breaker won't hurt your RV since your RV has a 50 amp main but it's still a violation, not to mention the mis-matched breakers, another clue of non-qualified workers and a NEC Article 110 violation.
Just curious, what section of NEC 110 makes plugging a maximum 50 amp load into a 60 amp protected outlet a violation?

The 110 violation is using breakers in the panel that are not approved by the panel manufacturer (and no panel manufacturer approves a competitors brand).

The violation on the receptacle has nothing to do with plugging the 50 amp load into it, the violation is supplying the 50 amp receptacle with a 60 amp circuit which is a violation of Article 210-21 which says: For branch circuits that are larger than 50 amperes, the receptacle rating must not be less than the rating of the branch circuit.

Notice also that the socket is clearly cracked and should be replaced. Very likely, the slots that the blades of your plug slide into are also weak, loose, and probably burned from arcing. I suggest that you examine the plug on your cord to ensure that it is still in good condition.

I went to the office and was told by camp host that she sent two men out and they found nothing wrong.
I will check my plug when I plug back into my pedestal
Thank you for the replies

yep, violation city...

I'l bet this even violates 422.11(D).. questionable, but still possible..

the owners better have good insurance when the lawsuits start flying around after fires due to overloading..

what the owners are attempting to do is cater to the high use vendors that are pushing 55 Amps and frequently popping breakers. additionally, those recepticles are not rated for continuous load at 50A.. so things are going to get hot...

My plug looks good, thank you for the suggestion to check it.

There are companies that manufacture panels, but not breakers (your RV is an example of that) in those cases, the manufacturer will publish a list of brands and breaker series/part numbers, which they have approved. Midwest Electric, Connecticut Electric are both examples of this.

Agreed but the box pictured is a GE, GE1LU532SS.

Curious though have you seen Midwest or other boxes that list both GE and Eaton or ITE? The reason I ask is because, as you may know, GE breakers can be slightly different than the standard Eaton and ITE plug ons and they don't always fit each others busses and deadfronts perfectly.

BTW you may know but Midwest has been a part of GE for over 50 years.

edit: I just checked out Connecticut Electric and they allow Siemans or GE so I answered my own question. I'm guessing Midwest is only going to state GE since GE owns them.

WFCO has a long list of approved brands.

I thought I had seen a list for Parallax and for Precision but cannot seem to find them.
