Hello y'all, Gary here, hailing from central Texas. I'm a life long rv'er and camper, been around em all my life. I'm no expert but I've always kept mine working whether it was my fifth wheel or trailer or a friend's. But I've never really had a motorhome until now. This thing is a gem and I hope the forum can help me identify more about it. It's a 1977 Dodge Sportsman C30, Tuffy model made by Champion. Anyone out there help me identify it a little further, like how many were made and rarety of it? It sat for 12-14 yrs, took me about five days tinkering with it and I got it running and drove it 65 miles home. We're about to get all into the remodel and get this thing up to date and back to the campgrounds.

Welcome Gary from across the way a bit (just north of Houston). That's a fine looking RV you have. There is a ton of knowledge here. Ask your questions, and someone will be along to help you out. Again, welcome, and hope to see you down the road!

Hi and welcome to the forum.

It's always good to have another experienced voice to add to the mix.

Jump into the conversations any time, and let us know if you need help with anything else. I can't help with that one. 🙂

Happy travels.

That's pretty cool. A couple of other nice looking "money pits" in the driveway, too. My first "rv" was a 17' Scotty trailer I pulled with my '61 F-100 short bed.

Thanks partner, Everything in my driveway runs great. The 65 F100 is my daily driver, the 74 Plymouth Scamp is my next daily driver, repairing a seal leak on the a/t and under coating her body while I got it up. Almost ready for Texas inspection and tags. The Tuffy runs and shifts great, got some cosmetics and carpenter work to handle up on, and I need to find a set of dually wheels, someone put singles on it and it rocks like a boat going down the road.

Thanks friend, thanks for sure and I'm hoping to tap into a little knowledge here.....I need to learn the forum good so I can post the threads in the proper places and reach out a bit. But first order of business is to find me some dually wheels.

Really cool looking shorty rig.

I see you have a classic truck and a car as well... A man after my own heart...
Thanks, I like the classics myself, I don't personally have a "modern" vehicle, retirement dream for me.
The Tuffy is quite short, it actually has a 2" shorter wheel base than my 74 Scamp! The whole thing overall is only a few inches longer than the Scamp.. Heck, even my wife's 2014 Ford Explorer Sport is almost as long, again by inches.. that's what attracted us to it from the first sight.

For more information about your Tuffy, you could try an inquiry to the RV/Motorhome Hall of Fame in Elkhart, IN.

I gave it a try, hard site to navigate for questions. Maybe I'll have to actually contact someone with em and have an actual conversation...that would be great.
