that really answers the question! just more than my pocketbook will allow so will just keep track of miles and mpg. thanks to all for your help and clarification.

If the pump still works, just fill-up every 250 miles. That's what I would do. $1000 bucks is like over 10% of the total value of your rig. Not a good ROI
They charged me 300 because they said it was "LEAKING" at the hose fitting some years ago on a Mercury Tracer. No need to drop the tank.. Also it was NOT leaking when I pulled in. but that dealer is ... No more (State padlocked them. I was not the only one they ripped off).
