So I purchased a RV on Freightliner XC CHASSIS. I am having a intermittent dead pedal. I replaced the lift pump with a FASS Titanium series 165. because it is the “weakest link. ” And if I do have to replace the VP-44 it is already done. I still have the same issue. Primed the system, took it for a test drive, and I still have the same issue. How to I determine if it is the VP-44 or the ECM? I do not have access to the wiring schematics yet to check power to the VP-44.
And or what else could it be?

FAULT CODE: 0368
SID: 254
FMI: 8
Count: 102

This code is for the vp44 pump, my suggestion is to ensure you have a new filter on the engine, and verify the lift pump is working( you should be able to hear it at key on) if not that will need to be replaced first. if you replace it it could of been too late and you will need a new vp44 pump because if the vp44 pump struggles to pull fuel from the tank with out the aid of the lift pump it prematurely makes the pump fail.

Is the pedal mechanical or wire? A dead pedal could be literally that, a drive-by-wire pedal that is not signalling properly, e.g. showing zero pedal (idle) instead of the true position.

You can call Freightliner Custom Chassis at 1-800-FTL-HELP and see what they think. FCCC supplied the rest of the fuel system (tank, lift pump, filters, etc) and the pedal that controls the throttle. Have the last 6 digits of your VIN handy if you decide to call.

It is a drive by wire system. I found the potentiometer on the accelerator pedal but can’t locate the APPS on the 5.9 Cummins. it is typically (on dodges) located under the intake horn/ above the high-pressure fuel pump. but I cannot see it. is it possible that it is an actuator of some type, and not throttle cable at all? if so, where is it?

Thank you,
