A/C generator requirement

but is generator output affected by age?
Theoretically, no but it is possible that wear and tear has shorted some coils of the windings or something. Also, solid state devices and change with use for various reasons. I have in my career seen resistor values change, diodes experience some leakage, and such. Those problems usually precede a complete failur, but not always. I have learned to be very cautious of saying "always" or "never."

Another cause could be overheating. Before shutting down the generator after removing loads, you should run the genny for at least 15 to 20 minutes to cool the internal coils. Heat will break down the coil wire insulation over time.

Safe travels and all the best.
