a drive-thru question

The fast food business has gone through some interesting changes post covid and with delivery apps. I recently reviewed a site plan application for a McDonald's that had a drive-thru and a pickup counter for app orders. No dining area

Comments on the OP's choice of diet aren't helpful. He probably considers some of them to be insulting and that's not what we do here! Thanks to those few who gave constructive answers.

I don't get the latest trend where they remodel and everything is gray and black. No color, no clowns, no playgrounds. Just a drab square box, as if they don't want to be noticed.
Now all the cars are turning gray too.

You can always pull up to the spot to give your order, then let all the air out of all your tires, then see if the MH will fit under the height bar
It's not only the height. Some drive-throughs turn too sharply and are too narrow for my Ford F-350 pickup sans trailer. Unless my aim is absolutely dead-on perfect I wind up scrubbing a rear tire on the inside curb.

I had an embarrassing time once when I owned a converted Greyhound bus (35 Ft.) ,,we pulled to the curb in front of an ice cream place,, and while in line my dog locked us out of the coach.. In front of a crowd of people I had to jimmy the small window behind the entry door and hoist the wife thru it to unlock the door,, fortunately she only weighed 110 pounds..>>>Dan

I just had the thought that maybe the OP doesn’t have a toad. Then it becomes a much more important question. Me? I want my Egg McMuffin at least every 3-4 weeks. Not really fond of anything else on the McDonald’s menu, but Egg McMuffins are fabulous. I was so disappointed when, post COVID, they stopped the “Breakfast all day.” Sigh. But back to the original question, most fast food restaurants are close to a big parking lot like a shopping center. Even when looking for restaurants in small towns, there is usually a side street where we can park. But it does require some walking.

Dan,

I like the Wendy's Breakfast Baconator.

But I think they stop with the breakfast at 1030 hrs.

A few years ago my wife and I decided to grab a quick breakfast at a Wendy's on a Sunday morning. We were looking for a large enough parking lot for our Class A and toad when we spotted a bank almost across the street. We pulled in, and I headed across the street to get our order, while my wife walked our dog. On my way back, I saw a police car pull in and block the front of the our motorhome. When I got there, he and my wife were laughing and he was petting our dog. He said he was pretty sure we weren't robbing the bank, but you never know these days. Then we had a great discussion about living in our motorhome. Turned out he had a small TT, and was thinking about upgrading to a motorhome as retirement approached. The only problem we had, was after he left I had to fire up the generator and microwave our breakfast to warm it back up... :)

At 12.6 feet drive thru's and motorhome s don't jive. We have done fast food stops when the restaurant is part of a larger parking lot or plazas.

Many of our travels will include our kayaks on top of our Kia toad. Several times while exploring the towns we're visiting we've stopped at fast food drive thru's, forgetting the kayaks are on top, but luckily not hitting anything.

We had parked our MH in a park, and picked up sis in law, and the decided to get some FF, I was driving my toad. I pulled in to a parking space intending to go in, but the girls decided we should do the drive thru. OK, changed direction and got in line, They had the swing away sign for heigt warning, which for some reason took a swing. OH crap, my bike is on the roof! Fortunately, no harm to the bike, had to stop, and unclamp and just lay bike on the side. You tend to forget it is up there,

Only on a very few rare occasions have I used a drive through with the camper in tow. But, I have never driving through. I park the rig and simply walk up to the window. If cars are waiting, I'll simply stand behind the last one in like and walk up in turn. So, why not just go inside????....

I did that when Covid did not permit entry into restaurants. Specific case in point was Dairy Queen. Even after Covid settled down, Dairy Queen still did not open doors to the public, but did keep the drive through going. Well, when the camper was in-tow, it was impossible to get through. So, that was the strategedy. I got weird looks standing in line between cars, but when folks saw me walking back to the camper, I think they were glad I did not attempt to drive that thing through the drive-through! :)
