a drive-thru question

The fast food business has gone through some interesting changes post covid and with delivery apps. I recently reviewed a site plan application for a McDonald's that had a drive-thru and a pickup counter for app orders. No dining area
Our local McD has no counter. You order through a kiosk, and the food is slid to you through a small door in the wall. Never see a person.
Very impersonal, and we stopped going there.

Why order fast food when we you have a refrigerator full of real food right behind you? We pull into a scenic turnout for lunch.

On a semi-related note. My driving sunglasses are polarized. Most of the ordering kiosks at drive throughs are LCD. They often appear totally black with polarized glasses. So I have to fumble and change glasses to order.

A real PITA.

Only on a very few rare occasions have I used a drive through with the camper in tow. But, I have never driving through. I park the rig and simply walk up to the window. If cars are waiting, I'll simply stand behind the last one in like and walk up in turn.
I tried that when I was driving a semi-truck during the tomato harvest. At 3am in a small town often the only food available is at a drive-through. However, many drive-throughs won't serve people unless they're in a vehicle. The stated reason is customer safety but a secondary reason is to prevent robberies. With a vehicle the restaurant has the vehicle itself acting as an additional barrier against someone grabbing a worker or getting into the building and a license plate to help track down the perp, a person walking up to the window can easily reach in and then just disappear into the bushes.

That's a big problem for McD's. They went to the kiosks to avoid paying a counterperson when the minimum wage increased. Turns out trying to get customers to learn the order taker's job of maneuvering through multiple menu layers is less popular than just telling someone what you want. It's been identified as one of the reasons same-store sales and profits are down.

Yep, a larger inverter, more batteries, and a bigger converter to charge the batteries, all to reheat a breakfast sandwich instead of pushing a button and running the generator for a couple of minutes.. Makes sense to me... Not...
Well, it should make sense because it is bad for the genny to start it cold to only run it for a few minutes.

And I use the large inverter for many other things as well--in each of my motorhomes.

I was up in Susanville, CA a couple of days ago and stopped at the Mc Dawny's. That was how it was there also.

It looks like the $20.00 min per hour in CA for FF workers backfired, instead of workers being paid more, some lost their jobs.

I do realize you don't care how you spend my money, but reread my post. That happened a few years ago, and we've been off the full time road for two years now and will likely put the coach up for sale this fall. Back then, we would have had the generator running while underway to power my wife's breathing equipment, and possibly the air conditioners as well depending on the weather. When we stopped, she switched to her portable battery operated oxygen concentrator to walk the dog, so I shut the generator down. So it wasn't exactly a "cold start" when I fired it up to run the microwave.

Many motorhome RV'ers run their generators while underway in hot weather to run the A/C's.
Yes, but mine will not work for that. Dumb design. The engine heat blows on the genny fuel pump as well as the propane tank, so I cannot use either when it is very hot, as I mentioned in the link.

However, the cab A/C works great and is all I need even on a 115°F Day.

My Y2K does NOT have such issues. Only my 2022 Class A.

Without seeing the layout, would an aluminum heat shield help?

Do tell. Which ones aren't powdered or cooked 3 days ago. I don't think I've ever seen a ff joint throw an egg on a flat top.

Mickey D's uses real eggs. Problem is they cook them ahead of time and keep them in a warmer until ordered.

MickeyD's cracks and fries fresh eggs for their Egg Mc Muffins. The scrambled eggs in their plate breakfasts are processed at a factory and are poured out of a milk carton at the restaurant.
