Well...OK, not a horse, but Dicor ?putty tape.? (AKA butyl seal tape)

My porch light took a crap on the last outing. Bad bulb...no biggie...right? Well...the socket and pigtail pin in the light are shot as well as the bulb. So...Amazon to the rescue!  Except...the existing light fixture used Dicor putty tape to seal the opening in the exterior wall and the mounting holes. Good practice, no problem...except...the Only RV shop in town...sold out of the putty tape in parts...and service wouldn?t sell me 18? from their shop supplies.
Off to Home Depot...nope...Lowes...nope...NAPA Auto parts...nope, (they did have a butyl windshield mounting kit...$29.99  as soon as I said ?butul tape? at the box stores, the employees? eyes kind of glazed over...and I knew I was out of luck...
So...button the light back up to protect it from the predicted rain... .and Amazon to the rescue again...delivery on Saturday. What the heck I?m gonna do with 30? of the stuff.....
Ah well...this is all part of the fun of RV?ing...right? Right?  ::)

Put it in a nice plastic bag keep it with the other RV stuff so you never need it again. Murphy's law thing.  Actually it's used under just about everything. Water heater, ladder mounts, fans etc.

Zip Lock bag and double bag it.

Most hardware stores will have butyl tape - it is commonly used when mounting windows in mobile homes and RVs.  But Home Depot carries it, and so does Lowes.

So I thought too...but when ai went to Lowes and Home Depot...no. and I also saw Ace stocks it...but NOT in my local store. It would have to be ordered...with a delivery next Thursday...the day after we leave on an outing. I could (possibly) have gotten it in an Ace store about 30 miles away, but after hitting the various places here and coming up empty, I just ordered it from Amazon.

Oh, you'll need it.

No doubt. I?m actually surprised I hadn?t needed it before now. I used to have a couple of rolls of the stuff...but when I stopped booming construction jobs and sold my last travel trailer, I got rid of it.  :p
