A new "squaredrop" project??

Yep, Looks that way. My buddy Thomas who camps about 30 weekends a year gave me a side project he never started. It is a 4x8 vintage camper frame [not sure what brand or model yet] on 5 lug Chevy wheels. It had the floor still on it going to POR 15 the frame and start the build in late fall. Probably take the better part of a year or so cause I have two decks, two carports, a greenhouse and a sawmill shed to build over that same period of time.

Since I never go anywhere these days, I should be able to get them all done before the ice storm hits [we get one almost every year in Texas somewhere].

How do you define a squaredrop? Guessing you will build a camper onto the remaining deck?

All angles no rounded curves. Instead of the usual 3-4' off the deck it's 5' or so depending on the builder.

Thanks! Yes it should be since I already built one to the plywood stage. This is a vintage frame though and will need extra supports before any wood goes on it again.

As soon as I get finished moving the shop I will get pics of what I am starting with.

Got the pics done before moving the stuff out of the shop. I will knock the loose rust off the frame and strengthen it considerably, paint it black then start building on it. Have to straighten the front right A frame member also as you can see in the pics. The old jack will come out and a swing jack will take it's place.

I have fenders for it but likely won't use them. They are both left side fenders with tail light housings. Might change my mind though...just not sure yet.

I hate to be a naysayer but there are many better places and ways to start on a camper build of any sort. A good solid cargo trailer can be easily built out into a camper.

Youtubers Gonagain have traveled all over the western US from their home in Montana using a cargo trailer they built out into a camper. They did another one for their daughter and this is where some of their build videos came from.
