I am just starting out. I am curious, if you have a truck camper, and are planing a long trip, what do you do on the over night stopovers. I mean, can you stay in your camper ( parked on the truck ?? ) on a short overnight, or do you need to get a hotel if you are on a long trip and dont plan to stay in the area more than over night. Sorry for such a noob question, but I am planning for my purchase and itinerary, thank you.

Why are you apologizing? The entire reason for forums to exist is to get answers to questions. You don't need a motel. You can stay at an RV park or a campground or you can stay for free at most
Walmarts.

You can find places to park overnight that allow you to use your camper. The obvious one is an RV park, but there are often low-cost or free places that are adequate for a brief overnight stay. Many Walmarts or Sam's Clubs, Cracker Barrel restaurants, many truck stops, etc. allow it. Places like roadside rest areas and shopping malls generally do NOT.

Here are some sites that can help you find overnight stays.
