A valuable Veterans benefit

Today I registered and licensed the Tiffin.

I had to drive it up to the DMV here in Lake Havasu because the title from Tiffin said Freightliner rather than tiffin and they had to verify the VIN and name of the coach.

After a lengthy set of paperwork, the lady asked me if I wanted a one year, two year of five year license. She said one year was about $1,200, two year was $2,200, and five years was about $5,000.

I went ahead and put my ATM in the card reader for one year.

Then I remembered that as a 100% disabled Veteran I got one vehicle free license as a benefit.

She looked it up on my previous licenses and could not verify my meeting the reguirement. Fortunately, I had my VA letter at home in the safe. I went and got it and they are processsing a refund and I went ahead and got the five year license saving me about $5,000.

Since I bought it from a private party in Texas< I also did not have to pay sales tax in Arizona, saving me much more than the license fee.

I also transferred my personalized plate "Huey P"

I guess what goes around does come around.

Bye the way, next month or so I will sell the class C. I will probably just have a dealer here in town sell it on consignment. If anyone is interested in saving the sales tax and consignment fee by buying it from a private party, just call or message me.

Our son is a 100% disabled vet and he has a ID card just like my retiree card (he didn’t retire). The card might say disabled veteran not sure. I wonder if the ID card would suffice as proof.

It's about time something good came your way, and it's richly deserved.😁

Having it stated on your drivers licence ( as mine is)ought to be proof enough..>>>Dan
Here in Texas once you send in verified copies of your DD214 to TxDPS it's noted on your TxDL. That serves as legal proof of Veteran status.

Also for an additional fee (of course) you can get a military license plate that gives you preferential parking status in some locations. I'm sure other States have something like this.

As a resident of Ohio, I pay only about $60 per year for motorhome license plates. Also, I can renew my plate for up to five years if I choose to. (They raised renewal rates $5 last year.)
