A word of WARNING for Diesel Owners

It's not actually a fuel additive - it never goes into the full tank and is not consumed in the engine cylinders. Instead, DEF is a catalyst injected into the exhaust system to cause the NOx chemicals in the exhaust to be converted to simple Nitrogen and water. It gets consumed in proportion to the fuel burned in the engine but is not ever added to the fuel itself.

Yeah I'm starting to think all of these claims about "bad" DEF or containers being refilled with water are just another bunch of internet myths.
Do any of you have real first hand experience with this supposed issue? Or is it " my friend told me" or "My uncles brothers cousin said it happened to him" or "I read about it on the internet"?

You make a fair point and having myself after reading a prior story about this switching I check under the cap and I have only recalled about five times finding a "NO" Cover seal under the cap and told the store. Only once someone said he thought it was a return; he had put it back out and did not know about checking under the CAP. In the video I posted I saw a few and recalled one stating it had been replaced with water. I'm not sure how hard it would be to add color. But I see some dirtbag, nut job, low on cash use a bottle and then refilling it with water and returning it for his cash. simple "maybe too simple". Not everyone is like you, always trusting their fellow RV'ers or Truckers who are forced into using DEF. But it is good you keep an open mind. Me not so much as I learn just how easily some screwballs will screw over folks for a dollar, with a costly sick joke.

What do you mean they switched a bottle? Did they take out the DEF and replaced it with something else then maybe returned it to the store?

Some years back a person reported buying DEF at WM, when they got home and opened the unsealed jug was water.
