My 401K

I didn’t see the verbiage. We are invested very conservatively so it’s not hitting us too hard. And we don’t use our investments for retirement funding. But the goods and services prices will affect us. Wonder how all this affect RV and truck prices.

My pension is doing the same. Keep the faith.
If you're not in a Roth plan, are not employed and have reached the point where RMD's begin (age 73), faith in divine intervention is all that can help you now.

I just ordered hooked blades for a floor scraping tool. The blades are imported from Germany. Overnight, the distributor raised the price per blade from $10.00 each to $15.00.
The way inflation works of course is, were I doing a job somewhere, I'd have to either absorb those costs or pass them on to my customer.
The expectation should be that not only will the prices of foreign goods and services increase but domestic goods and services will rise out of proportion to those increases, ie., I'm not increasing prices by the exact amount that the wholesale price has increased but by that + as a hedge against future and other inflationary pressures. If the grocer is forced to raise the price of avocados from Mexico, the price of avocados from CA will also rise. If the price of a Toyota from Japan is forced upward, so will be the price of a domestic sedan made anywhere in the US.

Most of us put our 401k and retirement IRAs in stable funds when we were told to. Boy this thread will get ugly real fast.

Fortunately, I moved a lot of mine into very conservative investments a while ago. But I'm still taking a bit of a hit on my longer term stuff. Low single digit losses. I'm back to where I was in September. Felt bad missing out on a lot of the climb in the last year or so. Not feeling bad about it now!

All of mine has been in money market or bond funds until yesterday. The market is turning as I write this. Hopefully my guy got his timing right.

Reduced crude oil prices can help ease inflation, and lower fuel prices can be an advantage for the RV industry, fuel costs are a major expense for some in the RV community.

Went to Costco this morning but got there 30 minutes too early. Parking lot was empty. Stopped at a place and had a coffee at the counter until 10:00. Went back to Costco found hardly an empty parking space. Maybe some are anticipating higher prices coming.

We did 10 years ago when I retired so have only lost about $3k. Some folks claim they are losing $1k a day.

My guy called me Thursday and wanted to buy in big so we did. I guess he was right. He started buying Monday. I think he bought 100K Monday and the rest yesterday.

It's just one day. A good day for sure, but it's a bumpy road.
For me it's the little things. We had laundromat day and one of the dryer doors wouldn't latch closed. Further inspection revealed a crisp clean $20 bill was jamming things up.
Laundry was free today. Thanks karma!

I'm almost positive, I lost my a** in the selloff and then, being the investing savant that I am, I ingeniously got some of it back, doesn't make one Gordon Gekko.
