Fortunately it has gotten really cool in the last half century. I think the fact that Lawrence Welk featured the accordion frequently turned off a lot of kids. That heavens that Weird Al had a last name of a famous 50s accordion player. Because of this he was given lessons and an accordion at a young age.
Same here, my neighbor had one in the sixties but I was too interested in drums and guitar.
What a great find. They are not playing their instruments though. No mikes. They have a band that is doing the playing. Almost like Karaoke accordion. But they are still very impressive. I would have a hard enough time just roller skating much less singing and playing an accordion at the same time.
I am excited about watching Harry Potter play the accordion. And Rainn Wilson is Doctor Demento * Barry Hansen) who is an old friend of mine from my record collecting days. I have been to several of his concerts and can't find the photos. I was in the second row on the isle for one show and he came down into the audience and was singing 'One More Minute' and stopped right at my feet to sing a few lines to the pretty girl sitting next to me. And stupid me did not stand up and take a selfie of us.
