Ads Covering Alert List

If I'm on the forum screen and go to look at my alerts, the ad below it covers it up so I can't read them. But, if I shift to a thread view, it works as it should. Not sure what's up with that.

Ok, now it's not doing it. After some thought, I think it might be just one or two certain ads that do it. Sadly, I remember the shape but not the content. I'll make a note of it next time

It happens to me quite a bit on my iPad. Luckily all I have to do is move from landscape mode to portrait mode or vice versa to fix it. A bit of a bother, but more manageable than on an PC. And it is definitely related to the specific advertisement.

And as a side note, when I viewed this thread on my iphone, a loud obnoxious ad starts to play. Doesn't happen all the time. And I have the autoplay setting turned off.

I'll pay more attention next time these things happen and take note of what ads they are.

This just happened to me too, wildman. I usually use Duck Duck Go as my browser and it blocks everything. But when I just used Safari, I got a boatload of ads and pop-ups. Only problem with Duck Duck Go is, there is a pop-up asking about my location over and over. It's annoying, but not as annoying as all these ads.

None. I scratched my head when I saw that earlier. Don't know if the ad position can be set in the browser, or if a popup blocker would help. I need to log in with a non-Pro account to see if I can replicate it.

Yeah, I find the pop-up ads at the bottom of the screen extremely annoying. Especially when you are trying to type in a reply to a post, and go to hit "post reply", and the ad jumps onto your screen for some crappy product or promo.

How & where a pop-up appears depends on the browser and the screen layout (physical size, resolution, aspect ratio, etc), so your experience will perhaps differ from someone else's. The size and placement of the pop-up is dynamically determined according to a bunch of hypertext rules I won't even pretend to understand. This difference is very noticeable if you compare what is displayed on a smart phone screen vs a PC display, but the same sorts of differences might appear if you compare the same page displayed on a 16:9 aspect ratio vs a 4:3 or a 24" display vs a 14". That often makes pop-ups a operational problem as well as a nuisance!

Switch browsers. Down-load DuckDuckGo and use that browser. You have no advertisements at all. I'm absolutely horrified at the amount of advertisments that appear on all of RV Life's forums (including this one) when I use Microsoft Edge or Chrome. But, when I use DuckDuck or Brave, ABSOLUTELY no advertisments. And NO saved cookies to track anything. I installed DuckDuck on all my computers and phone. DuckDuck is absolutely free. You can also import your favorite bookmarks.

The only thing I use "Edge" for now, is when I want to go to Facebook. Then I use Edge, simply because I cannot remember my password and it's permanently logged in. But, I go to this forum and am thrown a ships anchor dragging me down to the bottom of the ocean with advertisements.

Yep, I even have duck-duck-go search app on my cell phone. My phone dings several times a day, I open it and see a notification from duck duck go that it blocked=say- 783 trackers within the last hour from(and lists the apps) even though I'm not using the apps.

This is such a simple solution to all the ad complaints. My ad-blocker on my Windows PC blocks all ads and Brave on my android devices does the same. NO ads.

I only use Brave on other devices to view this forum. Have it set as my home page.

I have several browsers installed on my PC, because different browsers offer different qualities.
Firefox works best for Facebook. It compartmentalizes a lot of the stuff that FB is throwing at you all the time.
Chrome works well for a lot of the working websites I use. (banking, travel and reservations, and business related activity.)
And Brave is great for forums, and games, and such.
And, once they are installed and functional, flipping back and forth between different browsers is completely transparent.

Thanks, Lars, I just downloaded Brave, logged in to The Forum, and see there are no ads along the bottom of the screen. Yeah!
