Adsorption refrigerator is dead and the cooling unit is not available! Help??

It looks like I'm the old person in the crowd since I just recently reached the age of 83.
I'm just a short while from that myself, and DW is a year older. So far we get around OK, but we, too, can see that "handwriting is clearly on the wall" and are looking at various assisted living/age in place facilities for a year or three down the road, depending on what changes occur over the next few years.

As Gary says "It seems to get a little worse every year." Endurance is drastically reduced from just a handful of years ago, and even somewhat from last year.

And I certainly understand about Judy's shoulder problems -- mine have limited mobility -- and, of course, pains of one sort or another are a way of life.

But, if DW were willing we'd still be RVing at times, but she was having trouble with climbing the stairs (as well as descending them) into the coach, and was tired of it so we hung it up- not looking forward to leaving our house of 29 years with almost an acre and a great view, but I'm sure it'll be necessary in the next 3-5 years or so, thus our research now.

Judy, hope you find what you're looking for soon- keep us advised.

The good news is that there ARE a few in my son's area that I really like. A lot of them are detached or only attached to one other condo, and most are also situated so they back up to a woods that will never be developed. Besides the two that got snatched up within hours, there was another one that had almost all the windows fogged up! Having to replace a dozen windows makes a place really expensive. Plus, I did not like where the second bedroom was located next to the laundry on the way to the garage. Another one was 20 miles away, which is too far, and it had been rented out for several years, so the owners had two signs in the window--for rent and for sale. They had torn out all the carpeting and were in the process of replacing it with junky flooring that was supposed to look like wood. Kitchen cabinets were also in bad shape, so I passed on that one, as it also had a basement with stained walls around the bottom!

When I participated in a research study for Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia in Oregon for a year, I had a couple of kidney stone procedures and my cataracts taken care of. They often will not do surgery unless you have a responsible person, preferably a family member to take you home and care for you. They kept me overnight for the kidney stuff because I had bleeding problems, but I had to sit in the waiting room for four hours after my cataract operations! Elderly people who are alone or in a situation where family can help them have a real problem.
