Affordable replacements for RV roller shades

Most of my roll down shades don’t stay down anymore. I know it’s a plastic boggy wheel inside that’s bad. Went through this last year replacing my large back window due to that little piece. Way too expensive. Is there any business that has any kind of replacements allot cheaper? Mine are that clip on. Have similar in my house that I may check out to replace. Are there any 3rd party outfits making replacement shades that won’t cost me a kidney and lung?

A photo of your shades or a web link to a similar one would help. I'm not clear on the type with that "plastic boggy wheel inside". Cordless? Tension strings? Traditional roller shades?

In any case, try Amazon, Recpro, RVUpgrades.com and similar discount outlets.

After years of repairing and restringing our day/night shades I am now in the process of replacing them all with these roller shades.

Will take a photo when I get back home. It’s the heavy black vinyl roll type shade. When my large one did this, I took apart the end. Has a plastic gear in it. That was broke in half. I contacted the actual manufacturer to see if I could order just that part. Nope. Have to order a new shade. Could try taking one apart and take that gear to someone with a 3D printer to make one. For now I have a close pin on one side to keep it down. Will check out the suggestion. Traditional roller shades. Thanks.

So long as the mechanism hasn't changed, you could order the smallest shade available and swap the parts

We replaced ours with pleated pull down shade we got at Lowe’s cut to size. It’s a blackout shade that works great. No noise while driving.

There is a company in Red Bay, AL called Lindsey and Winchester that does replacement shades for all brands of motorhomes and even homes. They do the Tiffin OEM ones. Lots of fabric/vinyl choices, and they have spare parts for the most common shades. Good people.

Nothing says you have to replace with the same type of shade. Go to a Lowe's or a Home Depot, find something you like, and have them cut it to the right length. Yes, you will need to install new brackets for the new shade, but this way, you can select anything you want, at any price range you want. It's your camper. It's ok to customize to fit your taste and budget. Use it and enjoy it. Give no thoughts to the "what if" in the future when it's time to sell it. Enjoy it now.

If they are MCD shades there are ways to fix them and its pretty easy. If they are unfixable I'd just take the above advice and buy something residential
