Air Dryer for air brake/suspension coaches

A word to the wise: Change the filter(s) on your coach's air dryer.  I thought the service shops I used had done so--but no.  Now I have to replace that pricey unit.  It's back near the diesel engine and just after the air compressor.

They won't replace it unless you ask. Air dryers can cause a lot of problems. Ron Ruward had one that got the dessicant in all the air lines. A bit of maintenance that's often overlooked.

That wasn't due to lack of Maintenance but was a defective desiccant cartridge.  It did end up in quite a lot of time cleaning out the air lines and replacement of the air dryer.  Fortunately all under warranty.  Recommended service interval is every two years.  Ours was done last July.

I know you were not implying lack of maintenance.  I was just trying to emphasize  that things can happen in spite of what we do.

I change my desiccant cartridge every two years.  It's about a 20 minute job, if you  don't mind lying on your back under the coach. Not very hard to do.
