Hey fellow trailer folk! Cruised this site a lot over the years so finally made an account.
I've been towing a trailer for the last 8 years.
Started with a 27' 6000# trailer behind a 2005 Suburban 1/2 ton with air bags in the back. Family grew and we upgraded to a 33' with 3 slides. It was within towing capacity of the Suburban empty (7800#) but once we added anything more than a jug of milk, we'd be over
I towed it for 20 miles just to see how it felt, and was shocked that it felt better and less sway than the old one! The tires on the new trailer are about 18" apart so i suspect that makes a huge difference as hitch weight is the same between the two trailers. However, I'm aware of the dangers I'm putting myself and my family in towing too much so we started shopping to upgrade.
I just purchased a one ton F-350 diesel to tow (Super excited to pick it up!) and will continue carting the family around the province! I'll be posting a few questions shortly and look forward to chatting with everyone
