I?m back again lol. Had some electrical issues on a long trip and long story short, I think they put the wrong alternator on my coach.  Turns out wasn?t even the alternator. However they switched mine anyways with a rebuilt alternator and now It?s charging too high at idle and the gauge and lights pulsate. Like it has a heartbeat. It?s a long long story but I think the road crew put on the wrong alternator. How would I find out from Monaco which specific alternator my coach uses. It?s a 40 foot Holiday Rambler Endeavor with 3 slides and 2 1/2 bathrooms. Thanks everyone. I sure do appreciate it.

Pulsing voltage is either a defective alternator or a faulty installation.  Why do you think it is "charging too high at idle"? What is too high?

There really isn't a right or wrong alternator, though it's possible the amp rating might be lower than optimum. Automotive alternators produce voltage in a relatively wide range (11-15.5v is typical) and have a voltage regulation feedback circuit that adjusts the output to match demand. The regulator circuit normally targets a range of 13.3-14.4v
A typical size alternator for a coach like yours would be the Leece-Neville 160A.

Gary is right about the manufacturer and size,, I just had a similar experience with another coach doing the same thing.. The Field wire was faulty and the run was too long for the existing wire gauge ,, by installing a continuous duty solenoid close to the alternator to provide better power to the field terminal we solved the problem.>>>Dan
