Power Gear Slide motor seems to be "Shorted" (WHen I hit the switch lights flickerd. never done that before even at end of travel. Very little power to motor had to bring 'em in with a pipe wrench and push 'em back out with gears disconnected)

Repair man coming to see if we can figure out motor PN Friday. but.. IS there a lower cost alternative????

Thanks gary the Technian is due outi tomorrow then we will order a motor once we know what to order.

I believe ther transmission is fine. just the motor.

Technician (He knows how to get the thing out plus he is smaller and more flexible than I) came out and got the model number (I could not find the tag) 712 for a new motor (OUCH) they run 150 to about 750.. Well. you gotta do what you gotta do and I have the funds.. Just.. But not much more than that.

Too bad you can't find the source (generic) part rather than the Power Gear branded one.  Bet it would be half the price!  I looked around online but don't see a cross-reference to a generic part.  I see several motors with a -712 suffix in their part number that are probably equivalent. Dorman and Bison have them, for example, and they are big suppliers for motors.
Did you check Ebay?  They have some pretty good slide motor prices.

On this model the motor and transmission are all one piece. no bolts so no easy equivlent..  Yes I think they do it on purpose.  Job's paid for (long story but I trust the technician) Expected part in 2 weeks.

Are you cleaning off the slide thoroughly? Perhaps things are getting into the motor, like small pine needles or even pollen causing it damage. Just a thought! We were always sure to brush off our slide completely before pulling it in.

John, what was the outcome of your slide motor replacement.  Mine may need to be replaced and it's also a Fleetwood with the Power Gear motor.

Replied to your other thread I think
Still awaiting arrival of part.. Due in this evening.. About 750 for the motor/transmission assembly via a discount dealer (Would have been well over 1,000 Lippert direct) Same motor exactly "Drop shipped" from Lippert.. just paid through the discounter.

Not yet. I called a local service technician THEY found the discount dealer... I found the same prices or within a couple dollars using GOOGLE  Just googled Power gear motor ###### and up they popped.

THe difference is my Technician, whom I have dealt with in the past, has dealt with this supplier in the past so there is trust.. But till I see the shipping label (IF I see it) I won't know the Dealer's name.

2005 Damon Intruder 377W and the motor came in. In theory that is Have not checked with Kristy since it was due in.. In the evening. Thu and today have been all day rain. he is not anticipating working tomorrow save for emergency and this is not.. Sun-Mon-Tue are "4 day wekend days) thanks to Christmas.. Wed next week if it don't rain I should have it installed.. I hope.. THough that is a scheduling issue too. and that is only if it does not rain. No need to do it in the rain.

Heck, it doesn?t rain underneath the coach. lol

THough that is true.  It does rain when he goes back for tools and the ground under the coach is saturated so water pools everywhere.. Today is dry but 4 day weekend supposed to stay Well let me look.  Looks like install will be Wed the 26th.

I'm not moving till 1 week after that so no need to hurry.

Well finally got it replaced.. Still waiting on the 900 dollar refund from the original Technician (it is in process but they say it takes 2-3 Business weeks and it's only been one business week).

Found 1600 for the alternative technician (OUCH!!!!!) and still have a bit left over for groceries between now and pay day (Frankly after years of living pay day to pay day.. That is amazing).

New motor is physically bigger (Same transmission) so I'm hoping it's physicallly "Heavier" as well. Since the original has 10 years of fairly constant use on it. I'm hoping the new one exceeds that.

But the slide out slides agan
the slide out slides again
Goes in and out again
the slide out slides again

Under its own power YUPPIE

I hope is has a good warranty...You are going to wear it out.

Glad you got it working.

I hope to live long enough to wear it out. The old motor lasted 13 years with about 10 years of frequent use. this new one the motor part is about 1 1/2 the size of the old one.. I'm hoping this means more rugged and longer lasting... I'm already older than my mother was at time of death and 4 heart bypasses shy of what she had (She had 4 I have zero. and I'd like to keep it that way).

So I"m hoping this new one outlasts me.. OR at leat outlasts the payments on the RV.
