Any members taken the MV COHO ferry from Port Angeles, Wa. to Victoria,BC.??

Dan,
We did the trip up  Vancouver Island  a couple of Falls ago.  We took the Ferry from Anacortes  to BC and took Black Ball Ferry from Victoria to Port Angeles.  So probably the reverse direction you have planned.  We loved the entire Island!

Busy time of year to travel so  best to make Ferry reservations in advance.

Thank you Betty,,I was surprised to find the cost was less than I expected.. At $5.25 per lineal Ft. for my coach and towed is $588.00 round trip (56 Ft.) That covers the vehicles and a driver,, the passenger is another $38.00.. The RV park fees run $50.00 to $60.00 per night for a decent place,, so a bit pricey but a once in a lifetime trip..>>>Dan :D

Are those prices in US or Canadian dollars?  The current exchange rate is $1 CAD = $0.74 USD so if those prices are in CA dollars they are $37-$44 USD a night.

If everything is "normal" Lou,, I imagine they will try to get as many American dollars as possible.>>>Dan ::)

So stop at a bank or ATM as soon as you get into Canada and get some CA currency.  Ask your credit card company about using your card up there.  Some charge a fee for each foreign transaction, almost all automatically make the exchange when you use the card, i.e. the business is paid in CA dollars, you're charged the equivalent US amount.

I did that two years ago when we were in North Bay, Ontario. The start batteries were flat dead one morning and I replaced them from a local Carquest store, using my VISA card, and got a screeming deal on the pair because of the exchange rate.  I was fortunate because the batteries are an 18 wheeler truck type with special lugs that I thought would be difficult to locate and I did NOT want to have to change the cables in a WallMart parking lot.>>>Dan

You might consider unhitching the two and driving the car on board, at least you won't be paying for the second person!!

I just moved from Port Angeles last year. After 30 years there.  Watched the traffic on the Straits of Juan de Fuca and the roads ion Vancouver Island/Victoria from our house.  We'd run around the Island any chance we had.  Canada is not Mexico and they don't expect your dollars change some money so they don't have to figure everything out for you.  Really.  People are great but they don't like US attitudes.  If you can pull off an accent when you come back many places take Canadian money at par. Dollar for dollar.  Buy antiques in Port Angeles for 74 cents on the dollar. You lucky Canuk. lol. Also great camping  all over the Olympic Peninsula.

We have a close friend that lives on Bainbridge Island for 40 years and a fellow RV'r.. We want to visit him for a couple days, then
we have decided instead of crawling into a hairball of reservations, we will stay at an RV park in Port Angeles and take the Jeep over for a day trip (or two) to Victoria city.. We have been to Canada dozens of times over the years so are aware of the various different
ways in Canada. Thank you all.>>>Dan
